Dang, Chris! I remember seeing those pics a while back, and it's still shocking.

Ain't nobody in this thread claimin' to be a "tough guy". Yer familiar with "Shawn", so you should have no problem a'cipherin' a real innerwebs "tough guy" when ye see one.

And in spite of our own brand of twisted humor and funnin' with ye, we DO appreciate that!

Them? I don't recall any of us saying catch cans wouldn't help.

Carry on rok, hep away!

Thanks for clearing it up. I dont always type cohesively! ADHD!

Thats quite a bit for NA. What was your break in process? I am gonna check mine tomorrow. Will have put about 300 on it since I got it installed. But considering how my TB and IM looked I think I will be fine for awhile. But for the deal I got better safe than sorry!

Don't know the break in. Bought the truck used with 34,500 miles on it. Just turned 47,000 miles the other day. Like I said before, the majority of what you see in my last two pics is water caused by short trips in the winter. The engine doesn't have a chance to fully warm up.

Yup, you would be amazed at how long it takes oil to heat up in cold weather. My Audi (2.7L TT) has an oil temp gauge in the dash. In a 30 minute drive to work the oil will barely break 200* if the temp is under 65* or so and you're not beating on it. In some of my home-aid distillation experience water doesn't really start to burn off till 190ish. In the winter short trips can build up a lot of water in the crankcase.

I don't know if its as bad, but yes, the 6.2 has some as well. Look over some of the Raptor forums.

All vehicles with a closed PCV system will do this, just some engines are worse for it than others. They are designed to pull the fumes out of the crankcase, through the intake and into the cylinder to be burned.

Just to clear up what I posted earlier in this thread, they way the OP wrote his first post led me to believe that the guy sold him on the fact the 5.0 was a D.I. motor, which it's not. I was just stating that if he (the OP) bought into that he was foolish. In no way did I mean to insult him or say he was an idiot for buying a catch can. I know the benefits of a catch can on a N/A motor. So in the end I'm sorry if I offended the OP

Its all good. It was worded kind of wierd. Like i posted earlier what i mean to say dont always translate to words properly sometimes. Plus i tend to get more then one thought going at a time when typing. It all gets lumped together. Also I intended to buy the catch can before I talked with tracy or even got offered to do the install to get instructions made up for the 5.0 crowd.

If I had a 5.0, I'd certainly want one. The install instructions are a valuable resource for others.

The coyote 5 liter is basically a punched out and revised 4.6 with 4v heads and TiVCT (twin independent variable cam timing)

In the end, this guy was blowing smoke up your rear and you bent over and spread them wide to let him.
Some people I guess need to read and do the research.
