2013 f150 Says 2hi, Still in 4hi
2013 F150 FX4 5.0
Drove around in a snowstorm in 4Hi, hit the underground parking lot, electronically shifted to 2wd (Truck says 2wd) On the first turn, it binds up. Basically will not shift back unless you put it in reverse. Ive been able to reproduce this issue everytime.
Any ideas?

Already tried the stealership route, they always seem to do more damage then is already there. Seem to have fixed the issue, interesting. Couldve just been some variables that prevented the switch right away. I try and give it a good 10s to switch while varying my acceleration. I seriously Doubt its anything along the lines of vacuum loss or actuator issues.

With the manual 4x4 shifters, (many times on many different vehicles) you have to let the vehicle move on its own in neutral when putting it in 4WD. With these electronic on-the-fly shift switches, it's still best, in my opinion, to put the vehicle in neutral just like you would with the manual shifter. I don't know how exactly the electronic ones work (the manual ones are relatively simple), but that's my opinion on how to prevent this. It doesn't always work, as the electronic ones are horribly unreliable on all makes, but that's what I do on all the vehicles at my dealership.
