Yes, a dealer should be able to reprogram it.

MGD
That right there is the first part of the problem. This darned owners manual has no nudey pictures and every time I start reading it I fall asleep in my recliner.

I have been doing it like this for 38 years and so far have never replaced a fuel pump. With the exception of my old Lightning but that darned truck was running near 700 HP. It weren't exactly stock...LOL.

I am one of those fellers who keep a truck for ten years or more. If the fuel pump could overheat, surely I would have faced this demon at some point. I think the fuel flowing through the pump picks up the heat and dumps it back into what ever fuel is in the tank. Since heat always moves from hot to cold, the fuel would have to heat up for the fuel pump to heat up. Just my opinion... could be wrong.

That is a good write up MGD. What it speaks of makes sense. It is as easy to fill up at half a tank as it is an empty tank. It just requires me to stop more often. I may start filling up more often.

We just purchased four new company vans from Ford plus have four others. After reading that, I think I am going to start telling my guys to fill up before it gets to a quarter tank.

Thanks for the link...

You can go to the dealer, or get a device that can do it. I believe Harbor Freight and a few other places have them. MGD knows lol.

I know they've been "optimistic" in the past, but everything I've heard about recent vehicles says they're bang-on now. My dad's 07 Mustang GT convertible (heavier than a coupe) is averaging 22+ mpg for it's 80k mile life, which is quite high in my opinion.

What about when pumps were outside the tank? Air keep em cool? I don't see how it's very different.

Darnitall though, I'll probably fill up a little more often now.

I forgot all about tire size recalibration. According to the display I've lost 2.1 average mpg since I put these tires on. I knew it'd go down, but I didn't think it would be that bad. Maybe it's not as bad as I think. Too bad my dealership sucks here. It's not worth a trip to see them.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. Not gonna do it. I had my turn at mods and blowing more money on a truck than a small house cost. It was fun. Been there, dun that, got the t-shirt. I bet over a few years I dropped 50 or 60 grand on top of a truck I spent 32 to buy. It was fast and lots of fun. Ran a couple seasons chasing the FFW series around the country. Ran in the TT class. Went through three motors two transmissions. Not to mention more mods and upgrades then I can remember to list. I was able to get a whopping 27k when I sold it. Everyone should go nuts at least once and have some fun. But once was plenty for me.

More on topic. I have a family emergency in Dayton Ohio. Drove my new truck. It averaged 17.8 according to the odometer calculations. Not to bad. I did not do a manual calculation to check BS factor. That was not really a priority just now.

yup, before i shipped off last time in the Army i sold my TT 24v Cummins, and since i've been DDing my 2.3T Mustang. but that car has so much money into it, and is in such good shape, i feel bad DDing it so i said f it and bought a new vehicle with a warranty. its odd having a vehicle i dont need to worry about

Well that's no good .... I usually run it down till it starts to cough on me

I can do a 30 mile trip after my fuel light goes on

Hopefully I won't have it long enough to cause issues

I don't think the computer counts the fuel when you use the remote start. I think my last reading on the computer said like 15 MPG, but it was 13.1 MPG when figured out by hand. I also had another tank that read like 11, but came out to 7.7 MPG when figured out by hand. I'm almost certain it doesn't count the time while you run it with the remote start.

Always filled up to full. Brand new in October, so I know there aren't any mods. I'll be keeping an eye on it when I fill up again, and I plan on not using the remote start when I'm on the next tank. I know I'm not crazy as I've always calculated by hand and kept logs since I started driving 16 years ago.
