TCS not working

The TCS on my 2009 Lariat is out of commission. The squirrely light on the dash is illuminated along with the ABS light. ABS is still functioning though. If I hold the TCS button in, the dash indicator will flash several times but stay illuminated. What's up?

You have an ABS issue.
  • faulty sensor.
  • broken sensor wire.
  • dirty sensor
    etc., etc., etc.

But the ABS is still working. I hit the brakes on ice and the pedal pulsates and I hear the noise under the hood same as always.

It still needs to be troubleshot with a computer.

Understand, however, are all 4 brakes pulsing? One (or more than likely) is not.

Need to determine the DTC.

if ABS is working and TCS is not working - then it is likely not a wheel speed sensor.
It is more likely to be either the yaw sensor, steering sensor, or the ECU that is the problem.

ABS just compares wheel speeds, TCS requires more information to know how the vehicle is handling.

Unfortunately this is bad news, as these items are probably more expensive to fix.

like others have said - you need to have the codes checked to find the problem...

It goes to my mechanic on Monday. Need a rear pinion seal anyway.

Cruised by the shop earlier. He found a bad right rear ABS sensor. Was working on the pinion seal. Need rear brakes while it's there.
