I actually have a short video of the tailgate assist in operation, but the photobucket app on my phone is not cooperating.

I installed one last week. Instructions say it should take 9, 360 degree turns to get the threaded insert tight, took a whole lot more than that for me. Anybody else experience this?

I had the same problem, I just kept turning the nut until it felt tight to me.

I bought mine from amazon. $29.99 is what I paid. The model number for the 04-14 f150's is # DZ43200

I went the eBay route, $29.95 with free shipping.

Is this thing to let it go down slowly? That would be nice. When other people drop my tailgate, they just unlatch it and let it drop. I always let mine down slowly.
These gates are plenty light and thin enough that lifting them is not a big deal. My old 72 chev has a tailgate with some serious weight.

Yes, that's exactly what it does.
