But doesn't the strut cause it to be harder to lift back into place?

I think its a one way check valve in it so it lets the oil flow on the in or up stroke and slows it down on the out or down stroke!

No difference lifting the gate back up here. Great mod. Works good even in minus 15.

Cool

I've been considering getting one and doing it to my truck. I had researched this and did some searches on the forums, and I think I remember reading something about a problem with the nutsert. Something about it stripping, or not seating and falling into the tailgate? Also read something about the cable getting pinched. Anyone run into these problems? But that was sometime ago and it just may of been one individual. But with my Luck?........$30.00 bucks isn't bad, but I don't want to damage my tailgate if I screw it up.

I read about problems on the dodges, but not the fords. If you do have a problem with the nutsert or a clip or anything, just email DeeZee and they will take care of it. I heard from several others on other forums that DeeZee is a stand up company to deal with. If you have a problem with a tailgate assist they send you a whole new kit, not just the part you need. Just get one and enjoy.

BTW the part # is DZ43200 for 04-14 150's

I finally got my photobucket app to cooperate so here is a short video of the tailgate assist in action.

Ok, that works. Thank you. This is a video of my kid when I surprised her with a brand new focus when she got her learners permit.
