So I noticed yesterday that I have no spare tire under the truck. The jack is also missing from under the rear seat. My dad bought it used from the dealer. Apparently the first owner decided to keep all this for himself before trading it in. I was actually with my dad when he bought the truck two years ago, I wish I has noticed it then. I wouldn't have let him roll out of the lot without them replacing it.

So, what do you guys think? Junk yard, craigslist, or explaining my problem to the dealer? Although I doubt they'd care at this point.

IMHO the 3.7 is a inadequate engine for a full size truck not enough torque out of the engine to get the big heavy truck moving. Be happy and get the 5.0 if you can afford a 25k truck. The only way I would go with a V6 is if I went with the ecoboost but since I'm a V8 kind of guy the 5.0 would be the choice I would go with.

Pick up a bottle jack at Harbor freight. There is room for a 10" 4x4 under there with it, just tie them together. Wheel at salvage and tire off a used lot. U got plenty of truck there to love. Usually U got many miles of no flats ahead of u. Also the noise will go away when U put the wheel / tire back up there. 5 finger discount probably took that tire and jack. Had it happen to me back when jacks were up front under the hood. If U look closely U may see it has just been done recently. {Prankers _ Someone may offer to sell U a wheel. LOL

If you use the truck as a daily driver to work (your office job) and back, which I suspect you will. It will be fine...

Talking

be happy with the truck you got a great deal. and to the guys telling you the 3.7 has no power cant tow ect ask them how the eco boost it when it rolls to the side of the road running on 5 cyl cause it just wiped out another spark plug. I tow a 5th wheel camper with a 2wd ex cab 3.7 with 3.73 great it works just fine it wont win any races getting rolling but it has no prob with hills and let it rev will never hurt it. most people will buy the 5.0 or the eb and never tow a thing but have to have the most power.

hmmm. so was the 4.6 2v v8 that ford used to have inadequate as well?

the 3.7 makes 52 more hp than that v8 and both make peak torque at 4000 rpm with the 3.7 losing by 16 lb ft of torque.

then consider the better mileage the 3.7 has over the old v8 and the 3.7 doesn't sound so inadequate does it?

ok people look at it this way trailer is in the 5500 lbs loaded range(not max load but what we have in it) its not a heavy trailer its a jayco quest 237 the rear springs on a 3.7 and a 5.0 2wd ex cab with the towing pkg are the same springs and the same frame. where the diff. one the 3.7 uses the old 8.8 axle that came in all half tons from mids 80s till 97 and then only the 5.4 got the bigger 10 1/4???? so the axle will do it fine no prob there. next its a 3.7 vs 5.0 ya 5.0 has more power ever where. so now lets put the old push rod 5.0 vs the 2 valve 4.6 vs the 3.7 pulling all the same o say 6000 lbs trailer. with one will pull the best and burn i lest fuel??? being if had all of these truck now onle th 3.7 was a ex cab and it had 3.73 gear(5.0 and 4.6 where reg cab long box with 3.55) hardest on fuel was well i tie the 4.6 and the old 5.0 could get 10 mpg at best on my 3.7 on flat ground pulling my trailer run 15 mpg(canadian mpg not us so like 8.3 vs 12.5)us mpg. yes the v6 does rev higher to do the work but it still pulls the trailer in 5th gear my 2 other truck would not pull well in 4th(4 in the older truck is a over drive and 5th and 6th is over drive in newer truck).

have any of you 3.7 haters ever drove a 3.7 with a trailer???? because most people these day have to have the biggest and fastest trucks the 3.7 is junk to them. go drive a older truck for a few day then drive a 3.7 and see how nice it really is.

I for one am NOT dissing the performance of a 3.7, I'm simply saying that there ARE published load limits that are NOT as high as you will find with a 5.0, EB, or 6.2. Regardless of what the limits are, it's NOT wise to exceed them.
