Angry Spare Tire Stolen ... Arg

Last night someone took the time to lower my spare tire and carefully remove it... they didn't even damage the bumper hole lock (yea I said bumper hole). If they would have raised the carrier back up so it wasn't dragging the ground I prolly wound't have noticed for awhile. They didn't try to get into my truck or tool box, just took the spare.

I didn't know that spare tires where a hot commodity these days.

Any suggestions how to prevent this in the future?

I know there are locking cables similar to bicycle locks. I've seen them alot on Ram's , don't think I've seen the locks on the f150s.

sounds like someone just needed a full size tire for their truck. They probably live or work nearby, keep an eye out for it.

Hold your butt if you go to Ford for a replacement. They seem to think that a steel rim is made out of gold. The rim will be as much or more than the tire, I don't know why they're so much.

People will literally steal anything. It's probably worth $100 on Craigslist, so that looked to somebody like a Benjamin was just hanging there

This is part of the new "SHARE A SPARE" program...just get a new one from the wal-mart parking lot. Lots of f150 just sitting there waiting to help...

I keep it locked and have the little thingy on there so someone can't just pull it off.

Looks like I can get a replacement for under 100 online but still

I guess they needed it more than me

Same thing happened to me last summer. Ended up putting a cable around the new one over the frame and around the tire. Also now back the truck up to my garage so they don't have room to get at it. Ended up buying a rim from aaaparts that had the best prices for a replacement rim.
