Yeah, because my truck is like me...it can gain wait overnight!

As long as you have a good representation of normal loading, a weight slip is valid. Now, if you go ahead and throw an extra several hundred pounds in, sure, it's different, but as long as you are loaded relatively normal when weighing, the weight slip gives you a good idea of where you stand.

It must be much lighter because your truck doesn't sag.
For the record, I pickup wood pellets every year for my stove and those skids are 2000lbs and my truck barley sags either..
Here's the payload on a loaded 2013 Lariat 4x4 w/HDPP with every option, even a bedliner, sidesteps, tailgate step, Nav/MFT, it's got everything. The payload was 1,948. That's pretty good considering it has every option and the bedliner. This is the worst it's going to be on a HDPP truck. If you got the Lariat without the moonroof it would probably be in the 2100-2000 lb range and on an XLT it would be in the 2200-2300 lbs range.

MSRP $52,180.
Internet Price* $43,752.
It's in California.
See the links for more info.

edit:
PS An XLT HDPP would be $8-$10k less.
For that reason I'm sticking with the XLT.

If I was prime and needed 1) a bloated top trim level, 2) all of the options and 3) a heavy-duty level of payload I would move to a Super Duty, and it would also include the Off-Road Package option, if desired. Maybe he can trade in for one of the next gen Super Duties in a couple years. Hopefully Ford will offer a more fuel efficient gas option or EcoBoost for the Super Duty on the next gens.

Since he seems perfectly happy with what he has, I don't see that happening.

I'm hoping for either A) An EcoBoost 5.0 (or something similar) or B) A smaller diesel (4.4L??) when I am ready for a new truck in 5-6 years. I really do not need 400HP/800ft-lbs to tow my < 10k lb trailer, but I want either a diesel, or the diesel-like torque of a turbo gasser.

He's said he's happy, but he also said he could uprade to a F-250 or F-350 in a few years from now. With a guy that switches from 3 trucks in one year I can see this happening sooner than later; especially, when the all new next gens arrive.

I'll take the 5.0 EcoBoost.

Ha, I hadn't followed his truck switching. He may have a new one next week!

Not me...I'm 37, and I'm on my 4 vehicle...ever! And my first was I only kept for 4 years because I couldn't afford anything else. So, in the past 15 years, I have owned exactly 3 trucks. In the past 15 years, my wife has had 3 vehicles.

I normally keep my vehicles for 8-10 years, last year has just been chaotic. I ordered my current truck with the intent to keep it. I'd say my next truck would probably be in 2019-2020 and will likely be a 250 superduty just depends what powertrains they have in the 150s at the time.

This is what people want to see so that they will know if a max tow truck can legally pull that camper or if they need a hd and max tow truck

loaded front axle 3200, steer 4360 (my rating is only 4050) and combined 16880, I know I need a hd/mt truck to legally pull this trailer

empty

front 3120 rear 2820 meaning with my 4050 rear rating I can only legally put 1230 of it over rear axle which is not the same as my 15xx payload rating
If this is your truck with the 5.0 then you don't have the max tow pkg with a RAWR of 4050lbs. I think your axle rating is 3850lbs?? Max tow was only available on the Eco or 6.2L..

Your right. I knew I was more than just a few 100lbs over. I've been looking at other ratings trying to figure out What my next truck is going to be. Reason I didn't know mine and Don't care is that I have only pulled the loaded trailer to the scales and back just to see How far over I am. I do have a set of wheels and lt tires I have to put on the rear for if I do finally get the mustang ready to race. And No squat at all (thanks to some airbags ) but thanks for pointing that out it even furthers the point that payload is not all you look at because I'm only a Tad over on payload but 500+ over on rear axle rating.

Here is a couple of shots of the new shocks, very easy to adjust. Rancho RS9000XL shocks.

Those are pretty cool but it still doesn't change the amount of weight your truck can carry..

I thought you said you changed the rear springs?? Those look stock to me???

They are both stock springs... like I said there isnt much difference. In fact the only difference between the two spring sets is the bottom leaf which you cannot see because it's hidden behind the wheel/tire. The bottom leaf on the max tow pkg is only about 7-8inches rectangluar, where as the HD payload that same leaf is around 3 ft rectangular.

OH and just a fair warning, I had to flip my shocks over as they do not work correctly as shown in the picture. So now they are mounted properly and just alittle more hassle to adjust the shocks. Currently running them on 7. scale is 1-9 9 being the firmest.

Upon further investigation and speaking to my local Ford service guy, he confirmed the stock shocks are indeed oil based and are required to be mounted with the metal housing down to keep the oil in the correct place. However if you are looking at Bilstein's they are montube design and can be installed in any orientation.

Prime I do like those tires, I think those might be my choice when the stock Pirelli's are done.. What's Michelin say you can get out of those for mileage??
