Disadvantage to 3.5L turbo ecoboost?

So i just sold my charger and now I'm looking into getting a 2013 ford truck. Ive seen many posts of 3.5L ecoboost versus the 5.0 v8. Im a guy that loves V8's but now from what I have been reading it sounds like its a no brainier to go with the ecoboost; according to fords specs http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/engine/ they have Better mpg, HP, torque, and speed. Whats the downfall for getting the ecoboost versus the 5.0 if at all any? Thanks for the replys in advanced guys.

Brandon

Have you read ANY threads in the V6 and 09-13 forums? People either love or hate the EB.

The mpg is a wash and think the 5.0 does a little better (lot's of post on it).

Owned them both and loved each of them.

EB has a little more punch and the fuel mileage was approximately 1.3 MPG better for me. My EB did have the CAC issue twice in 30k miles where it basically fell on its face when I mashed the throttle. Other than those occurrences I loved that engine.

5.0 has plenty of power, sounds awesome, cheaper, and still nets great MPG.

I like the 5.0 just a little bit more than the EB.... I am a V8 guy when it comes down to it. I wouldn't hesitate buying either power-train.

Drive down to the local ford dealership, Drive a 5.0 then drive a EcoBeast and go from there.. I drove both and was about to sign papers on a 5.0 but i got a better deal on the ecoboost and it had more options so i went with that.

The main difference in the two is the eco has more off the line torque than the 5.0,As far as mpg it really depends on how you drive.. Most people here that has poor mpg's doesnt get the concept of keeping the truck out of boost and then complain about the mileage..

My truck has 6000 miles (bought it in april this year) and the worse ive had is 16.8 and that was the first tank.. Since then I easily get 18 and more like 19 to 20 mpg every tank. My best so far is 21.6 on 3 different occasions.

Also dont let anyone scare you about the intercooler issues, they have been corrected for "13 models and havent seen or heard any complaints of it happening on the new models.

Overall you cant go wrong with either engine.. Good luck and keep us up to date on what you get.

Would there be any issues down the road as far as modding the two vehicles?

Say would one handle a 6" lift and 35's better then the other? Would one have more stress on the engine etc.

Other mods you can think of?

Thanks for the responses. Im headed to the dealer ship fri/sat was trying to gather some of your guys opinions before the sales guy throws crap into my head. I will test drive both for sure. Just from looking at the rebates that I qualify for on the ecoboost brings the price down to 31k for the xlt 4x4 before haggling. But as far as whats mods i would do would probly just be a 3"-6" lift and ofcourse tires with that. and what i will be towing is just a small trailer for my ATV's and probly a travel trailer/fifth wheel down the road.

Towing is where the EcoBeast shines.. So if your thinking of a travel trailer down the road then to me that would be a +1 for the ecoboost.. Same way with the lift and tires, the ecoboost with the extra torque will help get the bigger tires moving, of course your mileage will drop with the tires and lift, but im sure you have already considered that..

Thats why its gone. Might as well have a truck that probly gets BETTER mpg then the charger. 200-240 miles on a 18 gallon tank got old real fast.

I drove both. Loved to torque down low in the end more than the v8 sound. Am happy with my Eco.
