2013 V8 5.0L Idle Noise

I bought a 2013 with a 5.0L. It only has 1,000 miles on it now and ever since I got it I noticed after I start the engine (either warm or cold) there sounds like 'whistling' or belt noise coming from under the truck. It's almost like a constant 'bird chirp' noise. The noise is faint but it certainly noticeable. My old 5.4L didn't have this noise. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet but maybe I should. I am curious if others hear that same noise.

I just bought a new 2013 F-150 4x4 5.0L with the exact same noise you are describing. I really noticed the noise when I pulled up along a wall.I could hear it inside cab with windows down.

I have a '12 with about 26K miles on it, and haven't experienced this. In fact, this is the first I've heard of it. Reckon Ford did something a little different in '13?

I'm assuming you're getting this noise while moving and while idling?

Coy, you say that as if it's a widespread problem, but this is the first I'm hearing of this one as well. Maybe the rock I'm living under is bigger than I thought.

I did a few searches on the topic of "F150 5.0 coolant leak", "F150 5.0 coolant boil", "F150 5.0 coolant bottle", hell...even "F150 5.0 coolant puke".....and I got nothing but fellers with much older trucks talking about coolant/overheating issues.

What did I miss?

Didnt mean it as a widespread problem, ive only heard of the coolant puke on 1 thread here but it was with a ecoboost.

My neighbor is a hard core chevy guy and after i got my truck and let him drive it he went down to the ford house. He got the 5.0 since he's one of the guys that has to have the v8 sound. Of course since i talked up the f150 he is having problems with it

I think there is a TSB out for this:

TSB 13-10-21

Description: Address multiple issues with 5.0 engines as observed since TSB 13-1-1

Resolution: Trade in truck for an Ecoboost equipped F-150.

Sorry, couldn't resist....

Well, I knew it would be a matter of time until somebody did it.

Methinks I'll go over to the V6 forum to post in each of the seemingly countless threads of ecoboost issues that they should just trade in for a 5.0.

Sorry, couldn't resist....

LOL I'm going to create a truck swap website. You plug in your vehicle issues, and it matches you up to another owner with the opposite engine. Then you just pull up, swap trucks, and away you go...
