Broken tail gate support cable.

Not sure why this cable broke, the truck is only used personally (not for business or construction) so its not like the gate has been abused.

I'm the original owner and its a 2010 FX4, where can I get a replacement other than the 'stealer'?

Thanks.

Is it under three years?

I would assume that is something they would replace

BTW looks like it was getting pinched somewhere, like it wasn't sitting right where it should

Is the dealer the only place to purchase replacement?

Probably, but you can also get it online and cheaper at places like Tasca.

All of $18.82 at Tasca. Just under $29 MSRP.

Thanks king.
Called Tasca their shipping charge to Canada is all of $30.00 which brings total to $48.82 and thats just 1 cable. The dealer here wants approx. $43.00 tax incl. I don't want one for free but this is ridiculous, right?

Have you tried a local auto parts store? Ive seen them at Napa before. Doesnt look as good as a factory but it stil does the job... I think they were like $10. Worth a shot.

That shipping is ridiculous, but they may not have a choice. Might also try rockauto.com

It is not OE, but cheaper. Might also try looking for online parts dealers in Canada or a junk yard.

As I said, your best bet is an online company within Canada. That crossing the border is the killer as far as shipping.

Try these guys.

http://www.taylorford.ca/parts.html

http://www.markvilleford.com/en/info/contact/index.spy

After that, a junk yard is going to be your best shot.

The cables are likely the same from 97 up. At least the same bed cages fit all of them, if not just the 04+. So check eBay maybe?

Not sure what province you are in, but your local auto wrecker will have these things by the dozens. Any trim model of f150 has the same strap. I'd probably stick to an 09 up, but it is possible that they may very well fit from 04 up.

Try a salvage yard. Just find one without rust. I imagine any of them from '04+ would work.

If able to find used at salvage yard, get 2. Having that extra assures you that it will never happen again.

Try printing out the Tasca website info and negotiating... I used that to get a better price on some parts from the local Ford Dealer here
Obviously print it out without the shipping... and try to avoid discussing shipping...

You should be able to easily get 20% off from the dealer.
(Dealers have a HUGE markup on parts so they will negotiate)

That's a fantastic idea right there!

I can say for a fact that they have super high mark ups because I can get wholesale parts from a friend that has a repair shop.

I will say from a shipper that ships to Canada that shipping is just insane to go outside of the US
