The 5.0 is a great engine, but the EB is a better engine for heavy towing due to the low end torque.

The 5.4 has its issues, but overall I think it is a solid motor for a truck that gets used like a truck. I don't care if the 5.0 is quicker off the line!
Well, I always liked the 5.4 and it served me well towing an 8k# boat. On paper the 5.0 boasts more torque and HP, but honestly while towing it feels very close to the 5.4 with just maybe a slight edge. From what I understand, Ford tuned the truck 5.0 for torque rather than HP.

Not towing, the 5.0 is more fun to drive than the 5.4 and I like the sound. I find that if I try (which isn't often), I can get better MPG with the 5.0.

That will be something to consider. I'll have to drive one and decide from there. I would imagine that the 6-speed transmission helps it out. I bet the new 6.2 gets what my 08' 5.4 gets for fuel economy. The only reason to get the 5.0 would be for better fuel economy and cheaper sticker price. The Ecoboost doesn't appeal to me.........can't wrap my mind around a V-6 in a truck. I'd like to see it on the market for awhile longer too!

Back in the day, before they started building trucks w/4 doors, a slant 6 cylinder was the standard motor offered with most models.

V-8's were optional and considered over-kill. A 4w/d was considered luxurious. An automatic transmission was unheard of in a truck. Either 'three on the tree' or '4 on the floor'.

Most towing for recreational purposes was done with station wagons, back when I was a kid.

I'd never see an owner of a station wagon that didn't have an aftermarket tow set-up, cuz back then, the auto companies didn't offer any sort of a 'tow package'.

U-Haul used to have quite a business installing tow bars and trailer hitches.

I hope they give folks the option of disabling the Low Tire Pressure warning system. We in Canada usually run 4 steel wheels and 4 winter tires, but almost never pay the extra for sensors in the wheels. Give us an option to kill that stupid warning! And make it reflash-able so I can kill it in my 2013. If it takes an "accept" lawyer's warning, I'm for it.

I am so tired of getting the low tire pressure chime and warning. In Ontario, we're still on our winter tire setup this late in April and it is SO ANNOYING not to be able to disable that. Drives me crazy! But I won't buy those sensors since I've always checked my tire pressure regularly.

Gawd spare me from electronics!

Any word on the 2014 order guide? Just curious about any changes for 14 prior to the big 15 make over.

That's one sharp truck... Keep your foot out of it and mpg is probably great depending on gear ratio

FX4 tremor w/ECO (so you don't have to link away to see it) also there will be an STX sport available in CC (sorry no pic for that one) with new rims and center console.

No kidding, eh?

It's not fair. How am I supposed to hang on to a truck for a while when they keep making better versions?
