I was examining the air intake tube on my 2013 5.0 and there are two little black plastic blobs or off-shoots hanging off it plus one pretty big black plastic box. Anyone know what these are for? I can't figure out a purpose for them.

Theyare therre to quite down the intake. If you fine a pipe that will work with the factory air box let me know. I want to keep the stock box but replace that piping.

They are Helmholtz resonators. They cancel out specific frequencies to quiet the intake.

They do not impact performance (negatively or positively).

As noted they're strictly for NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness).
