I test drove Hemi 8 spd crew cab sport last week with 3.55 gears. It's an impressive truck. It didnt have the air ride, but it still road smoother then my platinum, I am sure that was in part do to the rear coil spring setup vs my Fords leaf springs. The Ram seat was a little softer, so that may have played a part as well. My Platinum rides smooth just noticed the Ram road smoother.

The new Ram 8 spd shifted great, very impressive powertrain responce times and very smooth operation. The Ford EBs have some delay or turbo lag, At least every EB I have driven did, which is one of several reasons why my Ford has a 6.2L V8. I don't think the Ram would out run my 6.2L ford, but I would't race it for Pinks. I was thinking everytime I punched the Ram it felt like it was very close to my Ford.

I really like the new Ram electronics pkg, but was a little disapointed in the rear camera resolution and the general grainey look to the both screens. I suspect its just a diferent type of screen vs what I am use to.

I am a pretty big guy and had the seat all the way back in the Ram and had plenty of leg room, but my sholder was cramed into the door post, I think my Ford has more leg room, and the main gripe I had with the Ram was the front doors are short hice the door post hitting me in the sholder, which prior to 09' fords were the same way, and you end up setting behind or right beside the post , the older fords and likley the all new 2014 GM twins will too, since GM shortened their front doors to make more rear seat access with larger rear doors, without making the cabs larger.

This is one area I think Ford really got it right in 09' when they stopped screwing around and just made the cab larger so they could use larger size doors both front and rear. I don't hit my sholder in my ford. Ram's regular cab has larger doors like a ford, since there are only 2 doors and when I sat in one of those last week as well, I had pretty much the same leg room and no post interfernace with my sholder in the Ram regular cab.

Yea, I am not a 100% sure which I would buy if I didn't already have my platinum. But that is correct I am keeping my platinum. Also I would say if buying another ext. cab or crew cab today. I think I would probably buy the Ford again, if for no other reason that wile the shoulder in the door post wasn't a big deal during the hour or so I had spent in the Crew cab Ram. I am afraid it might get sorta irritating on a long trip. That said, I think my Ford's seats are way to hard.

I am considering buying a regular cab Ram for work. I really liked the 8 sp Hemi powertrain, I was not sure if I would like the 8 speed's rotory dial shifter, but after spending about an hour with the Ram, and doing some playing around testing it out in a empty parking lot, I really, really liked the rotory dial setup. It was so simple and easy to opporate, I was switching direction D,R,D,R,D,P trying to simulate hooking up to a trailer and maneuvering a trailer in tight quarders, without taking my eyes off the mirrors and camera. It really was super easy to get use to, so much so I think I actually would prefer the rotory dial if given it as a choice.

I also have to chime in and say that the seats on the Ram are fantastic. I test drove an 8sp hemi as well, and even on an SLT Ram(equivalent of an XLT 150), the seats were extremely comfortable(moreso than my Lariat). Ford really needs to benchmark this, they are fantastic seats....

Ever consider visiting an upholstery shop and ask about "plushing up" your drivers seat?

Actually yes. I did do just that with my 09 KR Expedition, which it improved the seat comfort somewhat, but it also 86ed the cooling feature on the seats.

The F150s seats are not as bad as the Expedition seats were so I have decided to live with it and keep the cooling feature.

I eventually just traded the Expedition for a Tahoe. I had traded a 07' Suburban for the expedition and liked all the Ford features but missed the GM seats.

That said to me the best truck seats ever, were the GMT 400 series trucks 95-99 Full size pickups and SUVs . Those trucks had some really soft comforatable seats back then.

I am not sure why all these manufatures have gone to harder and harder seats over the past decade or so, but I will tip my hat Ram for at least starting to put some comfort focus back into their truck seats. The worst seats I ever had were in the last Ram I owned back in 2008, last year of the old body rams. 30 minutes and I was having trouble standing upright when I would get out, I had to ditch that truck after only owning it 6 months. I should have probably tried having more padding added to those, but at the time I had been taking thin memory foam pillows on the road with me and it really didnt seem to help it as much as would have liked, so I didn't think the added padding under the leather would have made much difference on that truck.

I noticed GM made mention of more comfort focus was given to their all new 2014 truck's seats as well. Since the 2014 GM trucks are not out till later this year. I really don't know if their new improved seats are really any better then the old ones.

I find that in todays truck market not one company has best in class everything. Its probably always been that way. I think Ford has the best cab design as far as size and things like flat floor in the back or in the case of a regular cab Ford has real storage space behind the seats.
Ford has a teliscopic steering wheel, I don't think anyone else offers that. But where all the others offer an TPMS system that tells you the air pressure of each tire, Ford gives you an idiot light that has a horrible delay to it. Ford has best in class in techno features other then the crap TPMS system. GM really lacks in Techno features. I think even the new GM 2014 is still looking to be behind the times when compared to Ram and Fords tech fetures. I digress, I could go on and on about what I think is better about one truck vs another. All in all I think Ford today has the most best in class features, with the Ram not far behind if not near equal when comparing the 13 Ford to what really amounts to the 13.5 Ram since the 8speed Hemi setup is a big part of why I would score the Ram a near tie with the F150 right now.

For me:

If I were buying a Crew or ext cab today, it would still be a Ford F150.

If I were buying a Regular cab, I think I would have to go with a Ram Sport over the Ford. The things I sorta disliked in the Ram is not there in the regular cab (post in sholder). Fords regular cab doesnt offer near the content level be it in tech features, powertrain or comfort features that the Ram Sport offers.

I have the 2013 Plat with 5.0 and 3.55 electronic locking rear axle and it has plenty of power and that 5.0 V8 sound just hits the mark
Exactly! I have a 2013 Platinum with 5.0 and 3.55 electronic locking rear also. I LOVE this truck. I upgraded from a 2006 Lariat with the 5.4.

The transmission went out in my wifes 2004 Expedition with 113,000 miles. So with my 2006 having 72000 miles I was not 100% worried about the transmission however it was in the back of my mind.
