Keyless Entry Keypad Remastering?

Can it be done? It's the keyless entry keypad from the factory.

I found an instruction for one prior to 2003. However, that doesn't work, obviously.

You have to know the factory code. It stays in the computer, and you can have one more code that you enter at any given time. The instructions for setting it are in the manual.

Remastering means to change the master code. I have the master code. I need to change it. Manual only has how to set your personal code.

I see. It is my understanding that it can not be done. Maybe the dealer can do it, but have never heard so. It is set at the factory and goes with that truck.

Why change the master code? You never use it after setting it to the code you want.

Maybe he is concerned because someone else knows it.

I think it can only be done by the dealer.

There's nothing in the service manual about changing the factory code. I think you're stuck with it.

Apparently so. I talked to someone and they say the only way is to purchase a new keyless entry module.. I'm going to get a price just to see.

You can NOT change the Ford Master code. You can only add additional codes.

Just to make it clear...the factory code never goes away. You add your own code. Both codes will work. I would bet that the original owner has no idea what the factory code is so I would not spend the money in a new module on the unlikely event that
a. He remembers the code
b. He knows where you live
c. He is a thief willing to steal from you

So just change the user code and enjoy your truck. Or move out of such a lousy area that you worry about the previous owner robbing you.

You can only add codes to the module you have. You would have to replace the module to get a new code, they are a fixed code chip. I think it is the smart fuse box in the passenger kick panel for 09-up trucks it should less than 100 bucks or junk yard one. 97-03 it was the RAP module under the steering column.

Quick (off topic) question...... In Nasty, and Bluejay's first post in the thread, they both have a picture in their signature attached, yet in the additional posts in the thread, the sig gets dropped. I noticed this yesterday in a different thread too. Is this a new operating procedure?

Nasty, this may be of little use, but I had an '05 explorer sport trac that I bought used in '07. I found the code on a decal on a black box located under the rear window, behind the seat. I believe these trucks have a similar box, located in the drivers kick panel area. I'm going to assume that if you change the box, you change the master code. If that is true, a wrecker could be your best friend here. If I find some time today, I'll look it up in my service manual.
