Need help choosing the right F150 and upgrades
6.2L comes in the FX4 FYI....
If money wasnt a issue id run a Rize Lift, BMF Wheels and Toyo Tires and i WOULD regear.
4.10 = 35s
4.56 = 38s
5.13 = 40s+

Thank you 99and04. That was helpful info. If i stay with 35" tires will I be ok with the stock 3.73 ratio? I don't have a $10k limit but knowing the cost of 37" tires goes well beyond the rubber is good to know. If I won't be happy with the 3.73 even with 35's then it may be a good incentive to with 37's. if you know what I mean.
I understand completely, I think you will be fine with 35's and 3.73's. Now if you want to really run, 35's and 4.10 or 37's and 4.56. Welcome to the forum too! Make sure you post pictures! I would go with an FX4 like mine btw, but I am biased.
And to have my gears installed in my 2003 was 1200 parts and labor.

Thank you Z7 and everyone for the input. I think it's time for me to go to some local shops and get some ideas and pricing. I'll let you guys know when I think I've narrowed it down some. I should probably buy my new ride within the week.
Doc, your questions about the power differential, and the potential of the gas/diesel options could be better explained to you in the tuner section of the forum. The potential power in a diesel vs gas is best answered by some of the fine folks who live in that section.
If money wasn't an issue in buying a truck, I would have went the 250 route. At the time, Ford Canada was offering over 7 grand in rebates on the 150 when I bought mine, and a mere $1500 on the 250. It was $5500 of Ford's money I couldn't walk away from.
There are of course the rumors of a new diesel option coming for the F150.
I would not buy a 250 with a gas motor. The biggest reason for the F150 to F250 jump would be 100% for the diesel option.
My '10 5.4 has 3.73 gears. They were the tallest gear option available for a Canada destined truck. I'm not sure why the US models had a 4.10 option, but the Canada ones didn't but that is all water under the bridge. With stock tires, and tune, the 3.73 was more than adequate. The 10 ply 34.6 inch Trail Grapplers added a noticeable load, and the truck could really use taller gears yet. I would say that if you are planning on 37" tires, you need to consider 4.56 gears as a minimum, or your power off a red light will be a laugh. Picture getting blown away by a stock 4 cylinder civic. Yup, blown away.
That diesel....... it will not notice those 37's nearly as much.
