In Truck Video Surveillance
Does anyone know of a good video surveillance system that is best used against vandals? I'm looking for something that will record activity outside the truck while it is parked at a train station during the day while I'm at work. Maybe a system with an onboard DVR.

I think it's easier to find a camera at the station pointing to the lot and park in its line of view. I know something exists because I remember seeing someone set something up in a Hummer a couple years ago around here because his truck kept getting nicked and stuff. He caught someone red-handed keying it and the police had no problem tracking the vandal down. It was on the news. Apparently the vandal didn't like the gas-guzzler and was trying to make a statement.
I would worry more about exterior damage than someone breaking into the truck and a dash cam catching them. Especially when they can see the camera from outside. So I understand an exterior elevated mount camera. Can't suggest one, but I would definitely prefer that.

3-4 years ago when I lived in Dallas there was an old white guy that got busted keying a H2 Hummer by on board DVR. I believe it had cameras in the side mirrors looking back down the sides. They played the footage on Fox4 and he turned himself in.

Not to mention, the train isn't the only place I've had a vehicle vandalized. In the past ten years I've had a car and now two trucks in the body shop, and I haven't been in an accident in twenty years. I've had it!
To the OP, sucks you are in this situation to just drive your truck. Your case sounds extreme. Your must have inadvertently set some guy off by accident? Keying a car is one thing but hitting with a blunt object is another level in the vandal path. Just saying.
I've thought of taking along my GoPro and seeing if I could catch the idiot who messes with my truck. I'm not sure I'd trust mounting it somewhere externally though and it'd probably be too obvious mounted on the inside. Almost everyday I find someone's chewed gum on the windshield, rear bumper, on the bed cover, I noticed a nice splash of chew spit on the windshield yesterday.. So far it's nothing to cause permanent damage, more so just annoying and if they've got the ***** to spit on it in the broad day light I don't know what's stopping them from keying it down the road. Can't wait til the snow is gone so I can drive the car again and leave the truck at home!
