Purchasing an F150 from a struggling city?

I live in an area where the economy is doing really well. I'm wondering if I may be able to get a better deal if I were to go to a city that is struggling economically more like Wichita or somewhere in Michigan or Nebraska.

Anyone have experience doing this and then shipping the car say 1,000 miles or so or going to pick it up?

The best offer I have so far on a 2013 Black on Black FX2 with the 402A package is $32,500 + TTL before my Harley F150 trade.

You may be able to find a better price, but if you should ever need warranty work, your local dealer who you bypassed may not give you the attention that you would get otherwise.

My advice is get the best deal for your money wherever that may be, unless you own/work for a business that gets business from a local dealership. I am not a person that believes in loyalty to a business that has no loyalty to you. The chances you will need serious warranty work are probably pretty slim, and the chances that the dealership would then look up when and where you bought your truck to hold it against you are pretty unlikely. If anything they should use the opportunity to prove their service and professionalism, in order to gain you as a good customer.

X2. I purchased my truck at a dealership 100miles from my home because they were able to give me a better deal than the 3 dealers closer to me.

Since then I've been to 2 of the 3 local dealers for warranty service, reg service etc and never once did they treat me any different. In fact it's 8 years down the road now and I've actually become good friends with the service manager and he's always treated me professionally. I say go for it if you can save.

Buy local and ask what the X-Plan price would be. If interested in X-Plan, let me know.

Hmm well X-Plan changes everything.. If I were able to get it 8 years ago I would have gone the local route.

I may have to hit you up in the future if you don't mind

If you think you would ever use X-plan, buy 100 shares of Ford common stock. Today's price at this minute is $12.99 a share. After owning it for 6 months, you qualify for one X-plan pin a year. Ford is even paying dividends - I have 100 shares and I'm getting about $5 every 3 months. I used Sharebuilder online to buy it, the fee was $9.95.

To calculate the X-plan price, take invoice and subtract 0.4% - then add a $275 admin fee. The dealer is limited to no more than a $100 doc fee on top of that, and it will be less if it's limited to less by state law. You will still get all applicable rebates and incentives.

So let's see, you're spending 1300 bucks to get the x plan when anyone can walk in off the street and get the x plan as well? HMMMMM interesting.

Goy my x-plan thru my uncle.

4,000$ savings below the dealers back room invoice.

All bolt-on options were given at cost and installation was at no cost to me.
(Bed liner, mud flaps, soft tonneau for the bed, bed extender, remote start)

You can't just walk in and get X-plan pricing, you need a pin and proof of eligibility. Sometimes you can negotiate a comparable price but X-plan is not negotiable.

I doubt you would lose money on Ford stock, you aren't just "spending" 1300 bucks.

4 grand below invoice is not X-plan, that's some other plan - unless you are counting rebates and incentives.

Don't go to Nebraska to buy a pickup. They just came off one of the best years for farming ever, and they are selling trucks like crazy. Detroit is a better bet.
