I just got my truck back from dealer because of shifting issues.

Basically issues were:

1. Hard shifts
2. Hard down shift when in tow haul mode
3. Slow to almost a stop then press gas and truck doesn't shift correctly.
4. Sluggish performance.

Well they reprogramed my computer and wow what a difference. Truck is way more responsive and shifts smooth as can be.

I have the 5.0 4x4 SCREW

I had mine done a couple of months ago, big improvement. Usually it was 1 to 2 rough shift, then confused slam shifting in stop and go traffic. But that damn slip bump from drive shaft is still annoying. They would not lube it.

The difference in dealers can be amazing. I had the transmission reflashed months ago, for the slam shift from 1st to 2nd when you are barely moving, and the tech that did the work came and told me to ask for the drive shaft yoke TSB the next time I had my oil changed. He felt it on his test drive. I did and they fixed it.

Isn't the driveshaft yoke issue only in 2wd models?

Someone on here used a thick marine grease to do the yoke and had great results, worth keeping in mind if the typically incompetent dealer can't fix.

well gradually all the issues came back! I am back to square one with all the same issues as above but now I have a Hesitation while running. Today I was going down the road at 45mph and the truck just hesitates or something for a split second then drives correctly. I happened twice but I have noticed this same thing while driving 70mph on the interstate as well. Anyone else have this issue?

I guess it is back to the dealer again..

I have the 5.0 4x4 SCREW
When I had my 2010 Screw 4WD 5.4L, I test drove a 2011 5.0L with the 3.55 axle. It was a very early build in December 2010. It felt sluggish and slow when passing or accelerating from a steady speed. It didn't want to downshift and get into the higher rpms unless I nailed the gas hard.

When I had a 2012 rental, same config, Crew Cab 4WD with 3.55 open axle, for the 2010 being in the shop, it felt so much quicker than my 2010 5.4L. Quite the opposite from the 2011. I noticed it downshifted quickly with minimum throttle to accelerate smartly and quickly. It never lagged when accelerating from a stable speed like the 2011.

Amazing that transmission can make or break your performance. Like I said before, the transmission can make a bigger performance difference than a different engine.

Wife's 2012 Escape is doing the same thing, dealer this time, thinks it's the throttle body. Perhaps the same with your truck.

i think i have this same problem, rough shift from 1 to 2 almost every time on acceleration. also have the slam shifting when in stop and go traffic. i have this other thing i cant figure out where its comign from but most every time when braking to almost a full stop in stop and go traffic i will get like a thud/miss i cant really figure it out but it happens when almost to a complete stop, a couple of times i saw the hood shake a bit so it makes me think it might be a misfire or something

It is still at the dealer for the third day. They told me that there had been 6 flash upgrades since Feb when I had mine done last time. They did the flash changes as well as other things but I should get it back today and I will let you know how it does.

Papa Tiger: I did drive it hard after the last flash! It ran great for a few months then back to same ol same ol.

The adaptive learning curve must tell the puter to mash it. I suspect U have a psi control problem in ur's. Something as simple as a damaged o-ring during the build on a solenoid possibly.
