shifts like someone that doenst know how to drive a stick

on the way to church this morning i noticed that when it was up-shifting from 4th to 5th it had a sort of surge before it shifted. very short and is intermittent. its done it a few more times today only from 4th to 5th and once 5th to 6th. its just like when you drive a manual and you clutch while still giving gas while you shift. very short but noticeable. its not throwing any codes whatsoever and its only every so often.

i have an Edge Evo HT with the extreme tune installed, and the shift points were set on "wild", "extreme" is the highest. but it has been set on this before with no issues.

i read on here that a misfire could be causing it to "search" for gears but i dont think its a misfire issue. shes only got just over 42K miles on her so i would hope the tranny doesnt need servicing yet. and im not aware of any recalls on it either.

thanks

Not the 2011, that's a bit excessive unless the primary use of the truck is towing heavy.

For TROUBLESHOOTING purposes, CORRECT. If you are going to take it in to the dealer for warranty work the tune and programmer need to be out of there anyway.

I was going to try and hold off on taking it to the dealer. it seems to have stopped since I reloaded the tune. if it does it again I'll take it in to get it looked at.

I just got done towing about 7500 pounds for over 1000 miles a few weeks ago. idk if that has anything to do with it

Mine's recommended every 60k and its hurting by the time I hit 30k, The hot summers down hear reek havoc on the trans fluid.

Just had the whole transmission rebuilt in my wife's '10 Escape, talked to the Ford trans tech, and he recommends every 30k if you're wanting to "take care of it, and keep it running good"

In that case, I'd get the fluid exchanged. I believe you need to use Mercon LV in that tranny, and it needs to be done with a machine.

yeah not long after I got my truck I spent some time looking around in and under the hood getting familiar with it and didn't find a dipstick. I hate these sealed systems...

There is a dipstick of sorts - it's attached to a plug in the tranny accessible from under the truck.
