2013 Ecoboost license plate reposition and mileage ??

Fabricated some steel plate to make this bracket. It can be flipped over to mount on the lower part of the intercooler hole to put the plate in the lower position. I opted for the upper because when parking I usually get pretty close to the front of the other cars and I wanted to use the 2 plastic bumper "loaves" as cushions. Potential for damage to the plate is greater down low.
There is still plenty of space to access the lever to open the hood.
Next will be two single 16" high vertical bumperette/push bars positioned on the outside of the intercooler hole snugged up to the inside edge of the plastic pads.
The trick will be to fabricate brackets that will mount to the frame near the tow hooks and be able to take some mild punishment with out allowing the push bars to bend back into the bumper/grille.
I've looked for an existing product but can't find anything. Any suggestions?

Also I'm a little disappointed in mileage on my 1500 mile break in trip. 17.3 mpg.
The truck is a 4x4 with the 3.55 rear end. I've got a Snug Top shell on bed.
I did go over a few low passes and purposely kept my foot out of it to get the best mileage possible. Most of the trip was on flat freeways and I never went over 75mph. 90% of the time I was on cruise control at 71-72.
I've got a buddy with a 2013 and he swears he's gotten 22.1 on several 200 mile plus trips and he's got the 3.73 rear end.
There may be some competitive BS involved from him here but should I be getting better that 17.3 ???
Crap-I just saw that I can't add a picture. The plate is center and the bottom edge of the chrome frame is a half inch about the top of the intercooler hole.

You have to host your images here in an album or on an image hosting site like Photobucket. I use both.

My '11 ecoboost can get 21 mpg on hwy with a 100 mile trip. Got 21.2 driving I40 to Bristol for a race about 3 weeks after i bought mine. Had around 10k miles on it and was driving mixed roads but with a 30 hwy stretch and got 20 mpg. 4x4 here as well. My city mpg suffers though. Hard not to punch it a traffic lights.
