Like the OP, I've test driven both and I think its great that we have two potent engines to choose from. Unless you option the 6.2 engine or go Raptor. For me, the 5.0 fits the best for my needs and I can't go without the sound of a V8, with a Maggie cat back.

Hey guys really glad I came across this thread. I don't own a F150(yet) nor any other pick-up for that matter. Last p/u I owned was a 1998 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71 ext cab. Nice truck but when the wife and kids came along it wasn't too practical. Every time I see a new F150 especially w/FX4 pkg. I'm also torn between the two available engines: 5.0L or 3.5 Eco-boost. In light of what has happened recently, with the condensation problems, and the shuddering issues, I can't cast judgement and say that these motors are crap. For the number of trucks on the road with these motors, I think its a small fraction to throw in the towel. As far as fuel economy is concerned, I think all car manufacturers are full of ***** when it comes to posting the EPA ratings on the sticker side window when truck is on the lot. These are numbers that are achieved in controlled environments, not every day real world driving. Good luck to you and I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice....

Actually, test drove the Raptor again two days ago; the Raptor definitely looks cool, had some fun in the dirt (amazing offroad ride and capability), but was not that impressed with the street ride (actually had more noises coming from the rear/bed which might be due to the fact I am use to driving my Platinum model, but the 6.2L didn't impress me over the EcoBoost that felt just as strong but with much better mileage).

So, I think I am going to pick up a new Platinum Eco tomorrow or day after depending if I find what I am want in my area.

Well, thinking about it if I get the price I want, but I still have it.

Long story but have since decided to move back into my old (but favorite) custom home that needs some work. So instead of using up some savings, it is just easier (and more fun) to sell my Plat that is paid off and get another one and carry with a low interest loan for a bit.

So thought it was an opportune time to check out some different models. I was even thinking of going back to a FX4 but can't decide if I like the new darker headlights; then I saw the cleaner looking HIDs on the other models and fell in love again.
