tire balancing price

I noticed a weight missing from one of my wheels, bracket there but no weight. Dealer says they want $35 per tire to balance. If i don't notice any vibration , leave it alone, they say. Does that sound right.

Sears charges $11 each with a 90 warranty. They offer lifetime balancing for not much more.

If there isnt a vibration, Id let it be, honestly. $35 is quite rich for a single balance when you consider most shops charge $80-$100* for mount and balance. Mounting is definitely the hard work, balancing is not.

*disclaimer: I havent paid for mounting and balancing in years, so this could be a little off. I mount and balance all my own stuff.

I paid $36 for mounting and balancing all four tires on my wife's VW recently.

Haha, depends on what you are balancing. I do my own, trust me the tire goes on pretty simply...balancing a 100lbs setup takes more time than putting the tire on the rim

Local tire store charges $7.50 per wheel to balance. I would get it rebalanced. In fact, I have mine balanced about every 10,000 to 15,000 whether there is a bounce or not. Tires will last longer and the bearings will be happier.

Shoot.. That's high. I purchased a set of tires on CL last year for my Oem winter wheels and a local shop charged me $25 per wheel to mount and balance them and I thought that was high

Try a local tire shop.

Tire shops around here charge around $12 or so for mount and balance. The stealership is trying to screw you.

Goto an independent shop....bypass the dealer....

But are you sure it isn't a weight????

There are some small weights that look like the rim clip....

Like these 5 gram ones.....

That's very possible. Will look at wheel again. When I rotate I clean the inside of wheels. I would have noticed a weight in cleaning spot on driveway.

thank you for posting this so I didn't have to find a picture, lol that's exactly what I was gonna say. Ford uses weights just like these from the factory.

I looked today and they are small weights. Similar to what the picture is. Didn't get the number off it. Thanks for the replies.

Most places around here charge roughly $40-50. Some lifetime of tires.
