2010 - stained armrest and console lid- replaceable?
2010 - stained armrest and console lid- replaceable?
I posted this in the interior section, but no responses..so I wanted to see what you new gen guys think...
I have the parchment/grey combo interior in mine.
The armrests and the center console lid are both the parchment color.
Recently I have been wearing a soft leather jacket and it appears it has rubbed off onto my driver's door armrest and center console.

I have tried everything (including the Mr Clean eraser) and nothing will take it off. It appears the dye is permanently in the vinyl.
I imagine the only solution at this point is to get a new armrest (if it can be removed from the door panel) and a center console top.
OR
I could dye them a similar grey color to the other pieces in the cab. If I can find the exact color match, I would go that route.
What I would like is to get the charcoal arm rests, but might not match well with the existing gray.
Are the armrests even removable from the door panel? I know the console lid comes right out with some screws..
Anyone else have this happen? I'd figure a $33k truck wouldnt have such cheap interior pieces.

The console top should be an easy find. The armrest will most likely be more difficult, and you may need to replace the whole panel. As far as the interior pieces being cheap, I would have to disagree. The reality is that vinyl is a relatively pourous material and things like this can happen. It really says more about the quality of your coat than it does about the quality of your truck.

I would check with a salvage yard or two -- even if it's a used part, these are generally 'lower' wear parts and being that it's only going to be a few years old, max... odds are that you can easily clean it up and it'll look perfect.
As for the leather coat -- yeah... I kind of agree with Gerrard too... bummer but, it sounds like the dye on the coat is to blame; not the interior. Best of luck though!!
Google shows this to happen to other vehicles, so it is not specific to Ford or F-150. The pattern is black leather jackets and tan interiors.
Before replacing parts, I would try some other methods to clean it. These threads offer some suggestions.

"Spray Nine works well, and won't hurt vinyl. The marine version (which I found at Costco in a two-pack of white spray bottles) is even better. Spray it on, let it sit for a minute, and then hit it with a soft brush to get into the "grain" of the vinyl."
