Got a new 2012 and got rid of the lemon 2010

Had a lot of transmission troubles with the 2010, and a lot of other issues that were even more concerning dealing with the frame and subframe. After fearing the structural integrity of the truck and the safety for my family, I wanted rid of it.

I had 34,000 miles and less than 2 years on the 2010 so the mileage charges were going to be high since Ford goes by my states mileage charge back standards. My dealership really stepped up to the plate and helped. Found $6500 in rebates and I lost less than $5000 on the trade from what I bought it for, which is better than what even Kelly Blue Book stated.

I bought a 2012 F150 XLT Crew Cab 4WD with 5.5' bed and the 5.0L engine and 3.73 locking axle. Has the Tow, Chrome, Convenience and Plus packages with Keyless Entry Keypad, Sirius Radio and Trailer Brake Controllere options.

Love the truck and feel like Ford finally offered a shift strategy that fits this high revving engine. I feel this combination has more power in pretty much all situations than my previous 5.4L.

I couldn't say the same for the similar 2011 truck I test drove before buying the 2010 left over. The 2011 5.0L shifted exactly like the 5.4L and Ecoboost which have higher low rpm torque. The 2012 was different in that the transmission downshifted sooner when accelerating and held gears longer to keep the rpms higher to accomidate the engines loftier power. Also the 2011 had the 3.55 gears that didn't help put it into the higher rpms. I drove some 2012 5.0L trucks with the 3.55 gears and they offered better shifting that made a worlds difference compared to the 2011 I tested. Perhaps Ford offered a shift strategy update on the 2011s when people got new trans updates for harsh shifting. Many stated how good the 2011 felt compared to the 5.4L but I thought the 2011s were lacking on torque when passing because they wouldn't downshift or downshifted to late. The newer 2012 downshifts right away to get the rpms high and stays there until unneeded.

I'm really happy with the 2012. It has all the options I originally wanted but couldn't find on an available truck back in 2010 since it was so late in the year.

You can see the new truck pics in my signature but here's one.

Thanks everyone, I'm really glad to be out of the 2010.

Everyone really knows me well at the dealership and the mechanics frequently ask how the kids are doing. Very friendly but in all honesty, you should not have a reason to know your mechanics that well.

Earlier pics were from the original dealers website. I took better ones, even with a Cell Phone.
