Unhappy 2010 F-150 Platinum Discussion

Purchased an 2010 Platinum 4-5 months ago after trading in my 5.7 Hemi. At first glance, there is a huge difference in power between the two. (the 2010 does NOT have ecoboost). Anyone else unsatisfied with this? Like 0-60 in the time it takes me to make a sandwich...

I've added a few mods, tonneau cover, spray in bed liner, sound system. I'm more focused on performance. Am I setting my expectations too high?

Without trying to sound too negative, if you were concerned about having more spirited driving you should not have bought a 2010. The 5.4 is many things, but few would call it quick out of the box. A tune helps, but in all honesty if you were looking for something a bit quicker you should have been looking at a 2011 with the 5.0, 3.5, or 6.2-all of which are much more spirited. For what you have, a tune is going to be the single biggest bang for your buck item that you can get. Best of luck!

Did you not test drive it?

Get it tuned for 91/93 octane. I run neck and neck with 5.0's and I have 3.55's with 32" tires and gotts mod. This is not a rip on the 5.0....one of my favorite motors of all time, both stang and F150 and obviously this is stock 5.0 to tuned 5.4 so apples to oranges. FWIW

I purchased the truck over the phone from a dealership in Phoenix (I live in NM) that I purchase all of my vehicles through. Not a ford dealer. Anyway, nicest, feature rich half ton they had on the lot.

So no, there was no test drive, nor an option for a bigger, newer model. Still love the truck, don't get me wrong. And i'm not going to throw it away if it won't hit 200mph. But I was just surprised at the lack of engine performance given the year and size, not to mention price .

Thanks for the info cheef, looking at purchasing an Edge Evo CS this week.

Best of luck. One last suggestion would be to seek out someone (well known/reputable) who can tune your truck on the dyno.
