Update: Power steering hose problem...

An update: Ford Canada has washed their hands (literally, after servicing my truck) of this problem. I managed to talk to the Western Canada regional manager. He pretty much gave me a lot of management babble about this problem not "trending" in their database. Apparently, once a problem starts to "trend" Ford will consider a customer satisfaction program (whatever that means). He then gave me a lot of B/S about how this is a normal wear-n-tear part. I even brought up the safety aspect of the problem, and he just spun out more corporate-speak about how Ford takes safety very seriously and blah, blah, blah. When I mentioned how the dealer agreed with me regarding this issue, he played the "dealerships are independently owned and operated" card.

He would not share with me how many owners are affected by this problem (Ford doesn't share the data that would support their own point of view... or does it support that point of view??). I was told to hand on to the receipt in case Ford does escalate this. He also told me that the long wait for the part was down to the vendor not being able to produce the part fast enough and that each one had to go through rigourous quality checks (the checks that were apparently missed the first time...).

So I can only offer this lame advice: complain directly to Ford, not the dealership, and preferably by phone. Oh, and keep those receipts...

Bottom line: you're on your own. I wonder if I should have picked the Tundra afterall...

So I just called the dealer to get in line for my hose. There's 2 parts they can order to replace it with (Differant Manufacturers) Both are on back order one has 160+ in line the other was 258 in line... so there's over 400 in front of me.. and they are really gonna make me come to the dealership and put it on a rack to verify it's leaking... Gonna make them handle the Slip Yoke Lube TSB while i'm there so atleast I knock one issue out if i'm taking time to go to the dealer...

For any of you with this problem in Canada, please consider taking the time to register the problem with Transport Canada. Transport Canada may consider this a safety issue and open an investigation. I've had very poor response from Ford Canada - lot's of management bluster and other b/s.
