Super Cab or SuperCrew???
Super Cab or SuperCrew???
I'm looking at possibly selling my 2003 F-150 SuperCrew and purchase a new 2012 model. I have had both a 2001 and 2003 SuperCrew and both trucks have been great but I rarely have someone other than me in the truck. With that in mind I was thinking of downsizing a bit to a SuperCab model but in looking at the various dealers they are few and far between to find and everything seems to be SuperCrews (at least in the Atlanta area). I'd like others opinions on this. So would you say...
- SuperCabs are now rarer and I should expect to pay more
- SuperCabs are less popular so I should expect to get a great deal
- Any consideration for a few years from now when I want to trade it
Not oposed to getting a SuperCrew but thought I would down size a bit if it made sense. Looking for either a Lariat or Platinum on either.
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I don't think you can get a Platinum SuperCab, so that limits you to Lariat.
I have had both a SuperCab as well as the SuperCrew I have now. If you have a family, the SuperCab just seems like wasted space that is not good for much. However, if you are the only person ever riding in your truck and even a second person is rare, then no reason not to go SuperCab.
If I could get away with it, I personally would buy a Regular cab long box. (I just prefer that configuration)

My opinion.....suicide doors are a PAIN IN THE ***! I have an ext cab Z71 now, and it never fails, no matter how far away I park someone always parks next to me. My wife and I don't have kids, but just going to the store, shopping, lowes, etc. and getting in the back is not fun. Open front door, open back door, close front door so you can put stuff in back, open front door to close back, then climb in....UUGGGHH! I will never own another suicide ext cab. The crew cab is worth the extra $40-60 a month in payment to me. With all that said, if you rarely access the back of the truck, then a supercab makes sense. It is easier to park than a crew.
I am actually working on an FX4 crew deal as I type this.

If you don't need a 4 door why pay extra to get one?
I have a Supercab and I love it. There is only two of us and most of the time it's just me in the truck. I prefer the look of a Supercab anyway.

Supercab for sure. You rarely have others in the cab, and the supercab still has plenty of rear space to haul things you want to keep dry. Plus you can get the 6.5' box and still have a truck that is easiler to manuever than the monstrous supercrew/6.5' box trucks. Plus you'll save money and likely get better fuel economy, seems like a total win for your situation.
all i can say is just once you need the space of say 4 people you will kick your self you got the extra cab. but i know just how you think never use it so why buy it. it one of the age old questions that only you can answer!

Agreed. I wish I had pulled the trigger the first time around, I probably would still be in my 04 if it was a SCREW. Child carseats don't fit well in a SCAB, or at least the ones I had didn't. At this point with my activities and family, SCREW is the only option, and its sure nice.
i have an 05 supercab lariat and love driving it when it's just me, but we bought my wife a 2011 supercrew with a 6.5ft bed and we use that more now then my 05. i just like the added room in the back of a super crew for when family or friends comes to visit and i kept a full length bed so i can fit things easily back there.
Supercabs are not rare, it depends on where you live.
In houston, I have yet to see another 09+ supercab fx4. I see supercab 2wd's all day long and supercrew fx4's every where.
In moab, 4 out of 5 trucks (fx4 models) i saw were super cabs.
The reason i bought a supercab was i wanted a 6.5 ft bed with out the length of the 4 door long bed truck, honestly don't have many people in my back seats and if they complain they can drive, I have no kids.

i love my supercab, from personal experiences its the best place to store crap, but its small enough that you dont try stuffing more stuff in. if needed it will hold more people, (not confortable) but it will hold more people. I have hauled plenty of people around with it.
