May be upgrading

I currently own a 09 f150 lariat 4x4 screw leveled with 35s and black xd addicts. I love my truck. Black on black, 41500 miles. I got truck fever after we shopped for my wife a suburban. I called around today and came up w a few options. Currently test driven a 12 ecoboost fx4 crew overnight. Power is incredible! Really. I pull a Polaris ranger (1600lbs w trailer assuming. around and a air nautique 4700lbs or so. ) and maybe a small tractor here and there. Payment is actually going down 50$ From previous truck. What are yalls take on going from 5.4 v8 to the ecoboost? I'm not sure I like the black interior and the 3.73 gears on the one.

I know what you mean by "got the fever". I buy a new car or truck every 1-3 years. As for the 5.4L vs EB comparison... well it's really up to you. I've had an 05, and an 06 both with the 5.4L and I absolutely love this truck I'm in now. Ton's of power down low, great mileage, and to be honest I like the electronic power steering. Some people have reported problems, but I haven't seen anything. I do only have 2.5K miles so far though.

Nice 09 BTW

I've got around 8,500 miles on my EB, and I love it! Plenty of power. While I haven't towed anything, I've had a lot of weight in the bed, and the EB had power in reserve!

Also, I have the 3.55 LSD in my 2011 Scab, and it does pretty well - if I keep my foot out of it, I get 15-17 around town and 22-24 on the highway.

What the heck is with you, feller? Each of your six posts is nothing but you taking a small portion of a quote from another post and then re-posting it.

¿Habla inglés?

OP, nice 09!

I guess you have to figure out if it's worth the extra number of payments (even though the new payment would be $50 less) to get into an EB. If you bought it new, I'm sure you're down to about 2-3 years left on the payments for the '09. You'll probably be back at another 5-6 year note on the new truck, right? Something to consider.

I went from an '04 5.4 3V to an '11 EB. Night and day between the two. 4 spd to 6spd trans helps too. Way more power, and I'm doing 3 mpg better too.

Well think bitting the bullet. Payment will be 113 cheaper @ 5 years though w state farm. Could keep same and pay it off in 4years 2 months vrs 2 years 5 months on mine currently. Now red or silver?

I am excited for you if you get a new truck! However, please do not look at lower payments as a reason to do it. You are taking on more debt, lowering your monthly payments just masks the fact that you actually owe more money. If you would like a truck so you can step up into a new powertrain-fantastic! Just make sure you arent justifying it as a good financial decision(its not). Best of luck to you either way!

I'm kinda partial to the red trucks. I've had two and my 09 WRX was basically the same as Race Red. Doesn't show dirt, less common than silver trucks, at least here in the Pacific Northwest.

Having a very tuff decision on trading. Mainly bc my truck has been trouble free, gets 14-18 mpg and when towing gets 9-13 mpg. Ive researched and found that some Eco are getting worst mileage and having trouble. Any insight on this? I'm not liking the 3.73 gears but I like the fx4. If I went w lariat I'd keep mine bc I like my color better.

If yours isn't giving you trouble and does all you ask it to do, keep it until the 2013s have been out for a little while. Give it time for the rebates to build up from Ford on the 2013s. That way, you'll have paid down your payoff some more and it will give you more time to make a better decision.

My .02.
