Oh yeah, I can only imagine somebody globbing it on for "extra" protection, not letting it dry and then running ballz out..

^What he said X2. I will spend my money on a Wix drop in. That is what I havew been doing and that is what I will keep doing. Already been there, done that, & got the t shirt stuff on aftermarket air filters. It just boils down to what you want. Had a 2002 F150 FX4 w/ 5.4. I added a K&N drop in shortly after I bought the truck. I maintained the filter as instructed. I started having a very rough idle and decided to clean the MAF and throttle body. Was amazed at what all was there. I may have over oiled a little. A little of that stuff goes a long way. What DID suprise me was the amount of dust in the intake tube. That came from somewhere. Through the filter. Cleaned all that out, and installed a Wix paper filter. Kept an eye on everything and was amazed that the dust did not come back as fast or as bad. Not bashing those who use them, just my 2 cents worth.

^ no, but a smaller amount will adhere and not drip or atomize as easily. I use non oiled filters, but have nothing against regular K&N's.
