5.0 upgrade

I've got a 2011 F-150 FX4 with the 5.0. How do I wake this thing up and get the engine numbers like the Mustang? I was going to start out with a cold air intake and SIDO exhaust, but I hear the cold air intake really doesn't help.

They claim 360 hp at the wheels with their tune, i don't see how they are claiming 360 hp at the wheels while 5star is only getting 300 w/ the mods i posted. Someones dyno is WAY off.

The dyno may be off, but that truck fairly flies down the quarter mile. 11.89 or something like that on that run. pretty quick.

If I ever get a 5.0 I'll be getting it custom tuned by one of the reputable companies or dyno tuned. If it's half as good as my experience with my 5star tuned 5.4 I'd be very satisfied!

This is my daily driver. I'm not looking to blow people away at stop signs. But would like more HP and MPG. I tow a 6000LB trailer about 6X a year and it would be nice to have the extra HP then. I don't want to void my warranty either. The aftermarket exhaust couldn't hurt and I like to hear my truck when it's running.

I did si/do exhaust with a flowmaster 10 muffler/bbk throttle body/afe intake and 5 star tune. Havent tried the throttle body yet but with everything else its a pretty quick truck

About any thing but exhaust and you risk warranty problems. Actually, exhaust won't help nut the wrong one can hurt.

I dont see why everyone says that exhaust are bad. The more free flowing the better. Everyone says a free flox exhaust kills low end torque but stuff i've seen says that only applies to carburator engines

Find out how your dealership reacts to tunes/intakes before you modify anything. If anything goes wrong and you've modified it, they can make life hard on you. Just do regular maintenance, keep your foot out of it and get nitrogen put in your tires. Exhaust won't hurt at all, I put true duals on my 5.4 and didn't notice a difference at all in its power-it just shounds a lot better.

I guess I misinterpreted your original post when you state you want to "wake" up the 5.0

Your second post states you don't want to void your warranty........

Let us know what solution(s) you come up with :-)

These are supposed to be the shnizzel www.tornadoair.com

Sounds like yer "stuck" with your current setup

You have VERY far to go and MUCH to learn, grasshopper.

That's about as misinformed a post as I've seen here in quite some time.

The late model exhausts ( 09+) are already 'free-flowing' (more accurately, preserve exhaust gas velocity), do not drone, and preserve the wonderful torque characteristics of these new engines.

You can certainly mod for a different sound preference, but you won't improve upon, and will far more likely harm, the performance out of the box.

Intake and exhaust mods take a very distant back seat to proper tuning if you seek genuine, tangible performance gains.

Those exhaust pipes will flow more CFMs than the engine can push out.
