Haha. I have a 9'x8' door. I was thinking about just doing a leveling kit on my 09 Lariat Crew, but now I'm thinking perhaps a 6" lift. Not wanting to spend a ton of money, or mess up the nice ride and handling. Help me out with suggestions. Also wanting a nice set of flares.

your not going to mess up your ride (it will look much better, stock sucks), ride quality is not much different, but yes you will spend some money.

2010 fx4

2010 FX4 5.4L w/ rancho 6" lift, 20" XD monster wheels, 295/65/20 nitto trail grapplers.

I bought it with the lift and rims and tires. Don't know offset. Probably going to go with 35/12.50r20s when I need new sneaks. I put wheel spacers on it but would like it a little wider. I did the headlights(retrofit w/ HIDs), smoked led tails and 3rd brake light, fender flares, and black billet grill(not pictured), and blacked out emblems. Also has auto steps which I love.

Yeah, you definitely need a wider stance to fill those pocket flares. Truck looks nice man. Im thinking of stepping up to 37's when i need new treads.

You u think u can fit 37s with 6" lift? Dont think there is anyway i could. Front bumper is already trimmed to fit the 35s. May have to trim more when i get the 35x12.50s in the future.

backspacing has a lot to do with it, and another forum member has the same lift and the exact same rims, let alone the same backspacing, as i do, and he fits them fine. Although I am a little scarred they won't. If they don't I'll trim, or go up a couple more inches, i think someone on here has added a spacer or something to the 6in bds lift for acouple more inches. I'll just add an add-a-leaf to the back. Here is the thread we talked about it in.

Has anyone gone from a standard lift to coil overs? To the coil over crowd, what's the general input on the coil over lifts? I previously ran an icon lift on my f250 so quality/ride is a huge factor for me. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but bds and procomp are the only coilover options available correct?

Fabtech has coilovers too, not sure if there's any more out there that do. The Foxes on the BDS should be pretty great, at least performance wise.

Not to get off topic, but I noticed this when I was looking for a truck to buy. I had a 2001 f150 ext cad sport and biggest most people put was 35s. Before I bought my new truck I was looking at '04+ and noticed quite a few people putting 37s on them. They may look good, but my main concern with that is putting 37s without a gear change.

Maybe some people do, but all the trucks I saw for sale with 37s made no mention of swapping gears. Without a gear change, i feel that it is way too much stress on the truck - engine, trans, etc.

I was interested in a nice looking '08 with around 50k miles i think...lift, 37s, and more. Only problem was that at 50k miles it just had a jasper tranny put in. My thoughts are that it is from the tires.

I know with my old truck i lost some pulling power. Bought it with 35k miles and sold it with 180k miles. Still ran great and had lift and 35s since about 60k miles. If i went any bigger I would def have had to do a gear change. Maybe I am wrong, maybe the new trucks are different.
