this could get fun (5.0 vs. V6EB) once Livernois gets their Ecoboost truck finished. They are working off the same tune that currently gets the SHO in the 12 sec range on pump gas.
I have a feeling that both motors will hit a similar ceiling before major upgrades are required. The internals on the bottom end of the 5.0 are the known weak link. Once you get to this point the motor will be coming out and dollars going in. The EB will get more power cheaper at first. The Livernois tune alone is looking like +60 Hp and close to 100 Ft-Lb. A race tune plus better intake and exhaust plumbing should put out a good deal more. The problem is the fuel delivery system. The selection for larger DI injectors is pretty limited. I know in the VW/Audi world where DI has been used for a while it is common to piggyback a second set of injectors on a stand alone management system. Doing this on an EB is uncharted territory. Break out the cash.
The other question is what can the tranny hold long term before it has to be beefed up. The potential is sure there to make stupid fast trucks. Further proof it is hard to get a bad motor in a Ford truck today.
