Terrible Service from Avalon Ford Newfoundland
Terrible Service from Avalon Ford Newfoundland
I bought this truck before xmas. black 4dr fx4 5.0L. Truck delivered to me with front passanger seat not working (high pitch squeel when you move it front or back), scratch on front passanger door that was half assed attempt to fix (buffed a small section around the scratch and was noticable). Washer sprayer didn't cover windshield properly. Box liner they installed didn't fit right. Shudder in driveline when starting off that they cannot feel when roadtesting. (whats the PDI charge for?)
Asside from the terrible buying experience and rippoff fees they tried to tack on last minute, the truck went back in a week later to be "fixed". They ended up buffing out the front driver door instead of the passenger one!!! and had to order parts for the front seat.
I had zylon applied to the paint upon purchase which I regret (scam in my opinion) But after they buffed the driver door they didn't reaply the zylon.
6 weeks later I had to call to see if the parts were in, they called back saying they were. Terrible service.
I put the truck in for repairs and just like the first time, they had to keep it overnight to finish the work. I got the truck the next day with the seat fixed, washer sprayer fixed and instead of focusing on the door with the scratch, they claybared and buffed all 4 doors!!!!! and reaplied the zylon to all 4 (so they say) and yet the scratch is still as obvious as ever on the front passanger door. I have learned to let that go.
So I drive home and the airbag light is on and the passanger seat airbag OFF light is on. OMG! so I bring it back the next day again. They say they retorque the seat bolts and reset the sensors. Well that worked. So on the way home this time the inclinometer (yay and tilt) is now 5 degrees off!!!!
I regret also buying the maintenance package from them also, I would gladely bring my truck to our other ford service dealer for all future repairs and service.
My old truck was 8 yrs old, and so far this has been a terrible buying and ownership experience thus far.

Sorry about your problems with that dealer. Been there myself, but i always get things done in the end, even if i have to battle with them. Document everything and Don't back down and don't let them wear you down. Insist on having all your concerns taken care of to your satisfaction.
Have you had a meeting with the service manager and if so, the owner?
If you did and was of no help, You may entertain the thought of writing a registered letter to Ford, explaining everything, including your disappointment in Avalon Ford's poor and un-caring attempt in fixing the scratch on the door. (keep a copy for your own records).
Let us know how things progress.

First - (don't take it the wrong way) - but why did you take the truck with so many things obviously wrong on it? You totally should have asked them to fix the items and THEN bought the truck. Otherwise, you knew when you paid for it that the truck had things that needed fixed. ...regardless, it still sucks to buy something so expensive just to take it back for repairs. I totally sympathize.
For your trouble, you should be asking for reimbursement of the maintenance package that you shouldn't have purchased to begin with. Just call the GM or the owner and explain that this has been an extreme inconvenience and you'd like some kind of compensation for the trouble it's caused. At the very least, maybe you'll get a new bed extender or something if they're unwilling to re-negotiate the existing add-ons after the deal. You'd be surprised how accommodating they can be if they think being tough would cause you to be a squeaky wheel.

Yup, replaced the head, sprays nicely now.
Anyway, by the time I actuall got the truck keys in hand, it was the end of the day, and it was night out. The truck looked great all shined up and clean under the street lights. How was I supposed to see a scratch then. I just wanted to get in the truck and go home after the aganizing few hours I had to sit and wait for my salesman to go back and forth back and forth back and forth to the sales managers office and asking me the same questions and requesting my license over and over. After all the BS, I had to deal with the finance manager who wanted to sell me everything under the sun including lifetime headlight replacement fluid.

I had the same type of problems a dealer in ottawa ontario. They did correct some of the problems but some of the problems are still ongoing. I will not be returning for service and will never purchase from them again...
I've been going to one in Ohio for my maintenance and my XLT was bought and paid for in Michigan.
