Front-grill to cover inner-cooler on EB
Front-grill to cover inner-cooler on EB
Now, that I've got my 12' EBoost, what can I do with that gapping hole in the front, where the inner-cooler is? Is there a grill out there that will bolt into that hole so no rocks and debris ding up the cooler? I wouldn't think a grill would mess with the air flow that much? Any body out there have one? It's for a Lariat with the chrome package. I see where there are holes that look like something could be installed? Any info or websites would be greatly appreciated.
There are TONS of them on Ebay and you can get them for 40 bucks or less there. They have chrome and black ones and they fill the hole just fine. Most use existing holes in the bumper & don't require any permanent modification to the truck. I've got one and had it for several months with no issue.
Did it bolt right up with your existing holes/slots? No drilling or extra parts needed? And one last question, it doesn't affect air flow does it? I wouldn't thing so. I just want to make sure. Thanks.
However, the guys that have them claim to have issues. If I was towing a heavy load on a really hot day removing the grill should be seriously considered.

Also prompted me to build my own billet aluminum bumper grille .....

That's actually one of the better ones I have seen. The openings are much larger and the bars look like they are round. This will flow quite a bit better than the ones with square tubing like everyone else is getting. The openings will limit the "hay stacking" effect as well as the eddy currents on the back side.

Started life as ...

* ¼" aluminum blank that was cut-out by a local metal craft shoppe using their CNC waterjet cutting system.

Regarding airflow restriction ...
Welp, ignoring the microns of surface area that the powdercoating will occupy ...
- Total surface area of the grille material = 35.1 sq inches *"obstruction"
- Meaning: 37% of the total surface area of the bumper opening.
As for me ... It's a non-issue. Never rule-out common sense. Otherwise bees wouldn't be able to fly.

Version 2.0 (no drilling required) will be in the works later this spring .....

GDM, I'm impressed with that grill, and I don't impress easily. Great job. I love it when people take on a little fortitude, and build something, and do it better than what is out there for you to buy.
Ive been in 110 degree heat with the a/c on, me the wife and 2 kids zero problems. I wasnt towing. We drove 2500 miles at that time and the temps went from 60-110 degrees on the 1 week vacation with no issues. If I even seen the temps rise a little above operating temp the grill would be off. Now that being said what I did notice was the shots the grill took on the drive. Im sure the grill saved the intercooler atleast once. Its your choice, This summer I will be on the beach with the truck and will post updates also. A lot of people that dont have one on here have thier thoughts and opinions but thats all they are. Again I dont tow but if I did and it was over 100 degrees and it was in higher altitudes I wouldnt put one on. But I dont tow. Im not posting to get into a pissing match, just adding my opinon. I have yet to here anyone on here complain that the grill made there truck over heat. Also people who tow in 100 + degree temps in higher altitudes are going to have cooling problems regardless of whats in fron of the truck.
