Question Need help with Leveling kit! 2" Daystar plus Bilsteins?

I recently paid a local 4x4 shop to put a 2" Daystar leveling kit on my truck. I thought that the 2" would level the truck out perfectly since my front fenders were 37" before the leveling kit and the rears were sitting at 39".

Well, after the leveling kit it appears that my truck still sits .5-.75" low in the front. I no longer have a measuring tape at my apartment and have not had time to go buy another one but it is noticeably lower. I am unhappy with the way it sits. I wanted to get the 2.5" BDS leveling kit but the guy at the shop talked me out of it in favor of the Daystar and now I am looking at my options at finally getting my truck level.

After thinking about my situation for a few weeks I have thought of a couple options that would fix my problem. I could go back and get them to install the 2.5" BDS leveling kit but that would cost me another $400 including the alignment. Another option I have considered was just getting a 4" Rancho when my stock tires wear out and get a set of 35"s. But what I really want is to just get my truck leveled and still have it ride comfortable.

My last idea (and favorite) was to add Bilstein 5100s on top of my 2" leveling kit. I know that adding the Bilsteins could put my CV angles at an extreme angle but what if I only set them at .75" or 1.5" max? I think that it will still provide a comfortable ride and give me the height that I want. Of course this will cost me a couple hundred dollars but at least I will get some new shocks out of it.

Basically, I am wanting to know what yall would do in this situation? Thanks for reading and super thanks for the advice.

Zach

First, I wouldn't stack the two options, even on those settings. It's not just an add up the measurements situation when lifting/leveling, a lot of other factors come into play with the IFS geometry, things getting in a bind, etc, etc... The bilsteins on the zero setting would marginally improve the ride over stock, and could be paired with the spacer in this configuration..

I would pull off the daystar, and either install the BDS 2.5 OR install the Bilsteins at the top preload setting if your dead set on having it totally level.

It's pretty irrational to spend another 200 on bilsteins plus installation/alignment, or spend the 400 on a bds with installation and alignment... when its only .5" of rake give or take. Once you get some bigger tires on (assuming you haven't already) it will become even more unnoticeable.

I understand being picky though. I have spent thousands being overly OCD...

First, read the link in my signature referring to leveling kits

a lift kit won't ride bad if that's the route you want anyways. mine road as good as stock if not better.

If you go the lifted route dont do it until you get the tires. And atleast you will get your moneys worth out of your current leveling kit. Also it may sound stupid but go fill your gas tank and mesure your truck again. (assuming its not full)

Fx4, thanks for the advice.

06yz, I have read that many a times with no answer to my question.

05supercrew, yeah it already looks a bit out of place with just the leveling kit.

What I think that I have decided on is... selling my tires to a friend for $150 a piece (they have 6k miles on them, is this a good price?) and putting some 305/55/20 Mickey Thomspon ATZs on it. I may have to run 1/2 wheel spacers to clear the UCA. Once those wear out (hopefully in 50k miles) I will either get a Rancho 4" or just get another set of 305s.

Ideas and/or suggestions?

My link does answer your question.

2.5" is the most safely, 3" is max (there is a reason that's the biggest offered) and you want to go to 3.5".

Lets say that my 2" level was a true 2". 2 + .75 does not equal 3.5. However, since my 2" level was not a true 2", I was considering the 1.5" as a last resort.

Fx4Life understood my question and answered it. Thank you for posting your link though.

One last bump to find out if $150 a tire is a good price to sell them for? They are the stock Pirelli atz with 6,000 miles on them.
