We took our ecoboost off the dealer lot and took it 1600 miles pulling our 26ft enclosed snowmobile trailer. Ran 65-75mph the hole time mainly in 5th gear, averaged around 10mpg. Ya it doesn't put down the torque like the newer diesel's, I would compare it to any diesel truck from the early 2000's. Way better then any gasser I've ever been around, including the 8.1 and 454 GMs.

Slip the salesman a $50 and I'm sure he won't notice you towing a trailer.

If you tow in the mountains, get an EB - you can't beat forced induction at altitude.

if you look at the 2010 5.4 4x4 super crew with 3.55 its booklets (sales pamphlets) says it pulls 9600#, thats with the short box.
the 5.0 2012 4x4 with 3.73 rates in at 9300# short box and long box is 9200#.
what gives? it's just me but i think the 5.4 will hold its own against the 5.0.

one of the foreman's at work got him a 6.2 that he said out pulls the company's Eco-boost?
i know they get damn close to the same mileage when towing (10.3 mpg)!

A local dealership here has some demo trucks that they allow people to drive with a trailer. They even have a few different trailers. They have one that has a big water tank on it that they filled with sand. I can't remember the weight on it, but you could hook up to it and see how it towed. That's how a couple of guys I know were sold on the EcoBoost.
