New 2012 lariat

Guys I am going to order a Lariat screw 4x4 in race red, I am going to get everything you can get on it Loaded to the max. The only thing that I have not made my mine up on is 5.0 or EB and 3.55 gear or 3.73 gear??

If youre going to get EVERYTHING on the Lariat, you may as well get a platinum unless you dont like something about them. You can build a Lariat just as high as a platinum plus youll get power boards and rear heated seats. If you cant decide on ecoboost or 5.0 go drive both and make informed decision. Ive had both and for me, the ecoboost is a better engine and ride. Good luck with the purchase.

Yes I did go and drive a BE and it was OK not real impressed. The reason I did not go with a platinum I don't like the wheels and the tailgate.

If you plan on going with any larger aftermarket tires or you tow definitly get the 3.73. Engine is your choice.

Surprised to hear that you were not impressed with the Ecoboost?? You wont get any more performance out of the 5.0 but you will get a much nicer sound out of the exhaust! Good luck with your choice.

Are you prepared to get every option available?

If you're going to get every option, you must go with a 3.73 gear. If you're not going with a 3.73, you're not going to get every option such as Max Tow, EcoBoost, Heavy Payload vs Off-road Package/E-Locker/Chrome Package.

Every option to me also means I am getting 6.5' bed instead of the standard 5.5' bed, EB instead of 5.0 standard, and I am getting the box side steps and tailgate step. Max Tow instead of Trailer Tow. Don't forget those. I see a lot of guys who say they got every option but are missing a half of dozen options.

First thing you need to decide is if you want EB with 3.73 with E-Locker, Off-road Package, Chrome Package, 20" wheels, and Max tow.

Or do you want EB with 3.73 LS with Heavy Payload and Max Tow and 7 lug wheels?

Edit: I will also throw out the 6.2L out there too as that is another option higher than the standard 5.0.

I've had my Screw EB now for one week and I love it. I went with the EB, 4X4/off-road, shortbed, 3.73 Elect rearend, Lariat, bucket seats, chrome package, 700W Sony, and in tuxedo black. The truck is perfect, can't think of anything else I'd need that the King Ranch or Platium provide?? I only have 300 miles on it do far so I can't talk about the gas mileage or towing yet. My only complaint is those da#@ noisy turn signals!!!! The cars next to me can hear those things going off. I looked to see if there's anyway to turn down the noise?? Any ideas out there? Other than that, perfect truck, you'll enjoy it.

I've had my Lariat EB w/ 3.73 Max Tow for almost a year now and love it. We plan to tow come the spring so I can't comment now on that part but I do enjoy the ride and mileage I get with this truck as my daily driver. The only thing I would add ( actually the kids would add) is heated seats in the back.

Well guys I went with the 5.0 with 3.73EL I hope I made the right choice my friend just got his FX4 with a EB and he likes it, He said he wish it had 3.73 in in it. I drove a 5.0 on monday and it had 3.73 in it and it felt good.. It is a lot better than my 2010 5.4 with 3.15 in it.. I hope some guys with 5.0 well chime in and let me know how they think of there 5.0.

In the FX4, 3.73 and EL are standard.

X2.

I have a twin turbo V6, but I sure wish I had that Ecoboost because everyone is talking about it.

Before you write off the eb, try and drive another. I drove one and it was not good. Told the salesman, and he went back out with me and coudn't believe it. Then we drove a different one and it was awesome. The low rpm torque is perfect. Especially if you tow. I ended up getting a 5.0 because of the deal I got, but I wish I had an EB. Maybe it was the gearing of the truck, but if I were you, I'd give EB another shot.
