Pretty sure I have 60 days to sell the old vehicle and get the difference in tax back. Do some people roll the sales tax into the note at the dealership? Sorry for the rookie first time new truck buyer questions.
I live in KC too. You have 180 days to use your sales tax credit (for trade in or sell of the old car). Try Machens ford in Columbia. They beat the KC dealers here by $1500. I paid well under invoice for a 2012 Platinum Screw.

Its technically not 25% off of MSRP. If you go to their website and look at the window stickers. They are taking the 25% off of the price of the truck before the FX luxury discount and FX premium discounts which are taken off at every dealer. But the deal is still really good. Id jump on it.

Well I may use Fairway to leverage a dealership I am talking with about a 2012 XLT Screw EB I want....... Apparently I am eligible for 5500 (web only says 4500, but this dealership can get another 1000 for me) in rebates right now plus a coupon for 750 off..... we will see if it plays out....

Sounds like a good deal to me. My sticker was $47,200 and the best i did was $42,000 and that was a 2011 FX4 model. Consider it an adventure and go for it!!

Thats pretty much all you need to do. Any dealer with any kind of business sense will sell you the truck at the price you are asking, because a sale at less then you are asking is better than no sale at all....

im doing the same exact thing.. here where i am in FL im looking at about 39,000 for lux package screw fx4 and about 42000 for a fully loaded fx4 so i hopped on autotrader and im gonna be buying my truck from texas in about a week.. saving about 4,000$ im buying the truck late next week truck internet price+shipping+200$ in dealer fees and its getting shipped right to my door and ill pay sales tax here in FL .. im buying my truck outright with no payments or financing just straight out of pocket so im just gonna tag it when it gets here.. and since its a brand spankin new truck theres really no reason for me to fly and pick it up since it is brand new and ill be getting it shipped to me for about 800 bucks
ive called my local dealers to see if they can get me out the door for the same price and nobody will return my phone calls lol

Last February, my stepdaughter bought a new Kia Sorento here in Joplin. This is the first vehicle they have bought since they moved to MO. They negotiated the deal and financing with the dealer (no trade-in, they kept their old minivan), and drove out with a 30 day temporary tag. When the 30 days was almost up, they asked the dealer if their tags were in yet (they assumed the dealer handled everything, as they were accustomed to in FL and IL). They were really taken aback when the dealer told them they had to go to the DMV, pay the sales tax, and get their own plates! That was a $2900 lesson. Dealers in MO apparently do not collect the sales tax or get plates.

I bought an Accord at Bommarito Honda in St. Louis, MO and they took care of everything......

Well guys I spoke with them again today, MSRP $50,595 ($48,595 after instant package discounts) they state once again they'll give me a $38,230 out the door price. Two dealers here have said they wont make a dime selling me a truck for $40,500 and $41,000 respectively (supposed dealer cost minus holdback and all rebates). So long story short the local dealers did not offer to sell the truck to me for those prices and even if they did, Fairway would be beating them by about $1500-2k after expenses of going to pick the truck up. Not sure what I'll do at this point as I'm not in a huge hurry and Fairway does not currently have a Sterling Gray truck. I'll report back if the deal happens.

Funny, I am after the exact same truck, except the black one. I'm seriously contemplating flying out there and getting it. The best price I got here locally was $41k plus TTL for the same truck. I bought my last car out of state and paid the TTL when I got home, the dealer gave me temp tags and a certificate of origin I used to get a title. It wasn't a big deal at all.

I just talked to another dealer who has a 5.0 2011 FX4 with 3700 miles on it and he told me I was crazy and that there is no way the dealer can sell it to me at that price and if they will, I should buy it. It clearly states 25% off on their website (yes, they are not taking the $2k off that Ford credits on the window sticker into consideration) so I don't understand how this can be any sort of scam. I know back home in Michigan a lot of dealers advertise "A Plan Pricing" but their site clearly says, "EVERYONE QUALIFIES".

The closest airport seems to be Pittsburgh and it should cost me about $100 for a one-way ticket.

This is well below Truecar.com pricing, so I don't understand how these guys are making money. I was only wanting to spend low-30's before but that seems to be 2010 or older used territory if you want these sort of options so I don't know that I can pass this up.

I came across Fairway from one of the F-150 forums and the post was dated October 2011, so I don't think this is any limited time deal they run. They have the exact truck I want right now though.

The way dealers like this make their money is on dealer incentives, extras at the time of purchase, and service down the road. Obviously, no one who has posted will be taking their vehicle in for service there, but the other two apply. There are hidden items known as dealer incentives, in which the dealer gets additional money back at the end of each month and the end of the year if they reach certain sales goals. Dealers also make quite a bit of money on underbody treatments, financing, bed liners, etc. My only concern at this point is that the number they gave the OP seems too low to include sales tax, and I am wondering if they just left it out. I would ask them specifically about it, and have them fax me a formal offer sheet before I bought a ticket or flew anywhere.

We just bought one of those loaded 2012 FX4s at Fairway on Saturday. There's no catch. I have no affiliation other than buying there. Sticker 49700. Paid 37275 plus TAX. The invoice on this truck was 43xxx.

You WILL pay OH tax no matter where you live. I live in PA. They'll mail me a check for what I paid and I'll go register in PA.

We were holding off on ordering an FX4 until rebates were better and planned to use Xplan. Truck we got has $4K in options we wouldn't have ordered and we paid $4K less than we would have. OK, if Ford were offering nice meaty rebates then maybe none of this matters, your local dealer would suffice.

These guys get mauled on FX4 and Lariats, they try trading them for anything else. Sales guy was not a huge hassle and they hit the mark on our trade.

Here's my trade in: http://www.fairwayford.us/inv2/2005/...73/detail.aspx

Wedgewood blue, Snuglid, bed rug, bug shield, step bars, new tires, blah, blah (hate to sell it, but baby seat wouldn't fit up front anymore).

Remember the 25% is off the factory MSRP, you lose the rebates, you have to pick from their inventory.

Google it for scams, I did for two hours and came up empty. Posted in a local Mustang forum and someone else bought there and was pleased. I couldn't sleep Friday night trying to figure it out, haven't had an issue since. I'd buy again. If you like the deal, go for it. If you don't, do whatever you want with your money.

Oh yeah, they toss in the bedliner at no charge.
