Fx4 Supercrew 5.0 Mileage 3.73 gears

Hello All,

I have just purchased a 2012 F-150 FX4 Supercrew with 3.73 and was wondering what kind of mileage to expect real numbers. I have seen lots of posts but most with 3.55 gears, is 3.73 the standard as I won't be towing a whole lot, maybe a quad eventually but thats hauling

I haven't had delivery yet, next week. Can't wait!

Thanks in advance,

The 3.55 will get a little better fuel mileage then the 3.73 but the 3.73 will pull better.

With my scab fx4 when i used to have a commute it was around 16-16.5 in town. now that i drive 3 miles each way i am getting 13.5 due to the truck not even warming up.

Didn't get it to tow but my understanding is that it's not much difference in mileage between 3.55 or 3.73

Is that correct?

I have a 2011 5.0 screw 4x4 w/3.73 gears and I get 18.8 mpg. Guessing 80-85% hwy.

The truck it replaced was an '05 reg cab 2wd 4.6L w/3.55 gears and the last tank I remember checking got 19.4 mpg.

average mileage x tank size (36 gallons) = miles per tank x 1.609 = km per tank.

Thanks for the conversion. If I can get 20 with city and highway, we are laughing. Equates to about 1100 kms per tank.
