Quick help please

I've got my rear wheel off ready to change brake pads and I can't get one of the caliper bolts out because of some contraption on the end of the caliper bolt. What is this and how do I remove the bolt? Thanks.

I don't have pics. It's got to be some kind of anti-squeal something or other. It almost looks like a little diaphragm housing. It's a 2010 if that helps.

Thanks! I had to use vise grips (I don't like doing that), but I got it off.
