4 Auto

How much is the new 4 Auto worth to you in the new higher trim 2012's?

Rebates right now are about 2k more if going with a 2011 lariat vs a 2012. What's it worth to you for snowy roads and mountain passes?

I like it because you can leave it on even on dry pavement.

Add the 36 gal tank, and a year newer for resale and you close that 2k gap quickly.

I gotta think you can get MORE than 2k difference on an equal truck 2011 vs 2012.

For me it was a non issue, couldn't get an 11 with the options I wanted.

For me, it's useless. I feel if you lived up north it'd be nice in the winter but for most it's another feature that's just useless and adds price to the vehicle.

I had it on my last 3 GMC Sierras and loved it. You could turn it on whether in mud, snow, ice, slush, wet field or dry pavement and never have to turn it off ever. I'm afraid in my 2011 XLT that if I turn on the 4 wheel drive and forget to turn it off what damage I might cause and am wishing I would have paid more to get the AWD instead.

I would get it. Im not so sure a 36 gallon tank is a huge selling point on resale as mentioned above, but theres a point to a year newer. Me personally I would never buy a lariat, cant justify a 45k half ton.

Better start getting used to that idea. XLT's are starting to creep up into that range.....

Oh I know they are, mine was when I bought it. I bought a decked out XLT for 38 and some change, I could have gone a little more but not much. BUt the Lariat I beleive starts around 45 and the ones I saw on the lot were 47. Granted I got 7k in rebates otherwise I would be buying the truck. But if Im going to spend 47 im going to bump up and get the new diesel.

lariat starts around 35k. Add 3k for supercrew and 3k for 4wd.

right and how many 35k lariats you see. Just add supercrew and 4WD like you said and its a 42k truck. So like I said all the lariats i have see were 45-48k on the three lots I went to.

Problem with these trucks regardless of brand by the time you add even a super cab and 4x4 your 35grand into a truck before you start adding the fun non essential stuff.

I'm thinking that the AWD will be more foolproof for when my wife takes the truck. I can see her driving around all week in 4H just because the air temp is below 32 . . .

My guess is the AWD will be available on XLT's in 2013.

It's worth a lot

It's probably the main reason I held out for a 2012 (which hasn't arrived yet). We'll see how well it works but if it's anything like my Expedition's AWD then it's extremely useful in snow country when the conditions are constantly changing.

I hated the auto 4x4 on an older gm vehicle I once had. It didnt react fast enough to prevent loss of control IMHO. I just dont trust it. I will stick to turning a ****, its pretty easy to do.

Coming from an 07 Chev VMax with autotrac to the FX4 without I thought I would miss it.
Well we have had a fair bit of snow and warm weather making for some slippery roads and so far I don't miss it at all.
To be honest the traction control in the F150 seems to work better than the locker the Chev had.
Weird but so far I gotta say it was nice to have the autotrac but not worth waiting for an 12
