Misaligned door after wind storm
Misaligned door after wind storm
I have a 2010 FX4 Supercab.
About a week ago there was a massive wind storm. While opening my driver's door, it flew open and maxed out on the limit stops.
The door still closes, but it needs a bit more effort and more noise. Upon closer look, the door latch area is about 1/8 higher than it needs to be for the body's latch pin to be centered. That means to me that the top hinge area has been moved forward a small amount (or something relative to that area).
Before I take it to a body shop, I wanted to see what I can do (if anything) to compensate.
When I look at the hinge bolts on the door, their are four (two top, two bottom). Two of the bolts have a smaller bolt set inside of them. I understand what the larger bolt does, but does anyone know what the smaller insert ones do? Is there a document around on how to align the front doors?
Surely I can't be the only person ever to run into this situation.
