When u compare it to other F150's side by side you can clearly see where there is mental missing. Hard to side with the dealer when my last 6 F150's since 98 didn't do this and 2 other 11's were fine at the camp with ATV's on them, oh ya plus my 09!

I would like a ford engineer to look at these and tell me every F150 owner that puts anything other than groceries in the back of his truck should expect this.

BUILT FORD TOUGH!

How heavy is your atv?

Try taking it to yet another dealer if possible. But don't say anything about the atv, the call to Ford, your dealer or what the other dealers said.

I think you making the generalization of every F150's gate will do this is untrue. Mine hasn't done it. The vast majority of F150's haven't done that.

We understand you're upset about this but you're really starting to make yourself look bad.

My dealer has always warned me about this possibility happening......since 2002....cause they know I haul motor cycles.....I always use a piece of plate steel to distribute the weight and get the ramps as level as I can to the bed.....usually park it in a ditch.....

I am only restating what the dealer and ford customer service said. Am i ticked, oh ya but i am not making stuff up. U can think of me what you like but you said it yourself, that other trucks are not doing this so that would make me believe that this truck has a problem that "i am being told" it is normal!

You can bash me if it makes you feel better but for me to pursue this further i wanted to know if anyone else has this problem since it is "normal".

The other 3 dealers were told about the ATV and they said it was irrelevent and that there is clearly a defect. I have a Canam 800 XXC outlander 600 lbs in that area and i also use a 4 foot piece of plywood on the box and tailgate to distribute the wieght.

Does that dealer have any other White trucks with identical tailgates? Does your gate have any cosmetic damage at all anywhere else?Maybe an overnight test drive is in order...... evil, but effective.

I used my 2010 to haul my Can AM Renegade (Approx 600lbs) and never had this issue. I just bought a 2011 but have not hauled the 4 wheeler yet, I will be pissed if this happens!

That's not normal. I've had upwards of 1k lbs sitting on the tailgate before. No damage. I also haul my Polaris Sportsman 800 X2 in the back of my F150. It weighs ~900lbs on it's own. It doesn't sit on the tailgate when loaded in, but I do have to ride over the tailgate to get in.

That is something that should be replaced under warranty, it's a truck, it's designed to have heavy stuff put in the back. If your dealer isn't of use you should figure out how to contact the regional manager from Ford. Either way you should be getting a brand new Tailgate free of charge.

I am going to work on my dealer some more. When you look at my tailgate from the side you can clearly see that the side angles in (\) from the cable bolt to the lip and in front of the cable the side of the tailgate angles out (/). This is why there was no lip to grab when the outer skin was crimped in this area.

I will keep you guys posted but if your sides are angled slightly out you should be fine. This one had some kind of tension pulling the sides in or was slightly bend prior to assembly and when the first weight was put on it, it showed the flaw.

I had this happen to my '09 when hauling several long 6x6 posts. Curious to watch this thread and see what happens.

That sucks. Does Ford say how many pounds the tailgate is officially rated for?

The metal is thin and cheap. I leaned a shovel up against my tailgate. It put a dent in it.
