What else could Ford be bringing with 2013 mid-cycle refresh?

Other than some exterior cosmetic updates, does anybody think Ford will make mechanical changes too, like:
  • Making an 8-speed transmission available?
  • Adding direction injection to those motors that currently don't have it?
  • Boring out the 6.2L to 7.0 or something else?

What is speculated to be changed/updated in the interior?

No, why bother?
Maybe
No, they'd make it 3v first

I hope for projector headlights, LED tails, adaptive cruise, and probably a little bump in hp once the GM/Import boys start catching up

I'd like power fold for the manly mirrors instead of for only those stubby little flippers. Make the Payload Package available on the King Ranch as well - even on the Platinum would be nice. Then, offer some decent rims. Fords rims are nothing special. Maybe some nice chromes like the Superduty.

I agree with a lot of that. They already have the powerfold tow mirrors on the super duty, I cant imagine it would be that difficult to port them to the f150. And fords rims are generally not very good. I find most of dodge/gm's rims to be attractive, but only a few ford. As far as me personally, I would love to see led tails and push button start. ohh, and some di in the 6.2 to make it a 450hp beast. YEEESSSSSSSS..........

I wouldn't count on seeing truck engines get bigger. Unless it's for a specialty piece like the Raptor. As the price of fuel continues to rise, your going to see engines shrink in size with turbos being used more and more to boost power.

I would bet the 8-speed trans waits until the new MY in 2014/2015, if then. Who knows though since, I think dodge, is throwing one out there already.

If dodge's rumor mill they created at the L.A. autoshow rings true and a smaller turbo diesel for half tons is introduced into their lineup in the next few years, I would hope that Ford would follow suit at some point. I have heard Nissan was also working in a joint venture to pursue a smaller turbo diesel half ton engine.

Who knows really, i waited for 2012, so I'll be in a 2012 for a few years. If i was always waiting on the next great innovations I'd never have a new truck It always sucks to buy one MY and then the next MY has something you really wished you had waited on.. oh well, right?

I really really like the direction Ford has gone with the wheels on the rest of it's lineup. The flare design like on the new Harley wheels is really cool. It's also on the Fusion and a few other cars. I think that there is really anything wrong with the current wheels on the F150 other than they're getting a little long in the tooth, since they've been around since 2008. I think the worst wheels are the chrome package 18's and 20's... ICK! I don't want to offend anyone who has them, just a matter of personal preference.

I was hoping for new wheels and changes to the Lariat chrome package in 2012, but I'm guessing that will happen next year. I think the XLT chrome package grille is awesome, but the Lariat's just looks tacky -- along with the wheels.

Funny how we finally just found out 2012 stuff and our minds are moving onto 2013!

There WILL be an 8 speed tranny. It's just a matter of how close it is. Look for it on the Rams and Fords in the next few years. I read it on pickuptrucks.com I think

Turboing a vehicle made for Baha? That's a horrible idea.

As for the LED tail tights, that won't ever happen. A lot of people think it looks tacky and doesn't have an OEM look.

I would be very surprised if it doesn't happen, sooner or later. As these vehicles have more and more electrical components, they are going to have a choice. Reduce usage or up voltage. Now having electrical steering has upped usage even further. It will happen sooner or later.

I have a feeling they are going to go to a whole new body style, like they did when the 04s came out.
