Along the lines of the Hemi discussion above, the poor little Chevy 5.3 isn't even in the same ballpark. I was driving on a 2-lane rural highway one night and got stuck behind a guy in an extended cab Chebby running 8-10 below the speed limit. After quite some time, I finally had a clean passing lane and eased around him. As I got beside him, he decided he didn't want me to pass and he punched it. I let the EB loose and walked off like he was sitting still...

Eco Boost like it

Love it. Best running and smoothest engine ever. Like driving a car.
Milage at the beginning was 19 mpg and now it's 14.8 mpg. Dealership
says it because I didn't reset the speedometer milage tracker. I 12000
miles I did reset it sever times. The milages drop was all of a sudden.
Other than that love everything about the truck.

I got a kick out of that.

Love mine so far. I roll about 50k/year, mine is only a couple of months old, you can track my fuelups here:

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/ajsturtz/f150

I'll roll through 13,000 miles by the end of this week. Great power, and I will run it to 150k before trading it.

The ecoboost is ok, if you like your truck making the sound of a wet fart at WOT!
Seriously, you can't go wrong with either engine, but I prefer my coyote!

Getting on the highway at my normal entrance spot, and traffic is clear, and there is a Chevy, Nissan, tundra or Dodge behind me, I will go WOT just as the ramp straightens out, and leave the sucker behind me like they are sitting still, even though they are only right behind me in flooring their truck. What's funny is they often will go 90 in a 70 zone, just to catch up and pass me, since their truck couldn't keep up getting on the highway.

At least the 5.0 sounds good while getting outperformed in every other poossible way by a 6 cylinder.

I'm sorry, but a 5.0 will not leave behind a 5.7L toyota or Ram. The EB holds it's own, but it's not a walk in the park.

Yep, and if a wet fart sounds like massive hissing of turbos and a rasp of small cylinders making good power, sign me up

There are a couple on here that have that many miles and are doing just fine according to their owners.

X2 again, and my wifey also likes the sound.

*sigh*

Really guys? This again?

And hydro, how do you know? Do you or have you owned one?

What I find both refreshing (in a way) and also comical is that prior to 2011, all the Chebbie, Dodge, and Toyota fellers picked on us poor Ford owners about how they could whoop us in a drag race (not that it even matters really...we're talking about trucks). Now, most of those fellers are nowhere to be found and the 2011+ Ford owners are arguing amongst themselves about who could spank whom!

It's good to be on the top of the mountain.

The turbos are oil and liquid cooled, they won't coke up if the oil is changed at the recommended intervals..............

Well, a 5.0 is no faster than a EB, so by judging the tightness of times between the 3 makes (1/4 mile, 0-60, 40-70,etc.) it isn't a walkfest. You're right, most of the trash talk has quieted down, but there are soooo many non-believers thinking "replacement for displacement" still rules and until we line them all up it won't end.

It matters to me. I love having the best of both worlds. Speed and power when I need/want it and capabilities of a truck. No need to pay 2 registrations and insurance

Like I've said before (and I'm pretty sure you were involved in the other thread I have in mind), I've lined up a few times with the cute li'l EB ( JUST KIDDING! It's a GREAT engine ), and I've done very well. Lots of evidence online to back that up as well.

Bottom line = Ford makes some VERY nice, powerful engines nowadays, and you really can't go wrong.

If you were closer, we'd line 'em up!

Oh, and FWIW, I'm not a "no replacement for displacement" feller at all. Boost makes fer quite a nice replacement for displacement indeed.

And although I didn't buy my truck to drag race, yes, it is fun messin' around every now and then.
