Talking Peak Wireless Backup Camera Installed

I have had wireless backup camera's before, but the Peak camera looked a little better, I liked that the transmitter was separate from the camera and came with enough cable to mount it in the bed so I get a good signal.

I picked up the camera at the local Autozone store for $109 w/taxes. I went with the 3.5" screen, they had one that was cheaper with a 2.4" screen.

I used the pocket right below the 12volt accessory plug, I took the suction cup mount off, the arm that then connected to the monitor wedged into the pocket to help hold the unit I put velcro to hold it in place.

I did take the big power plug off the monitor if you ask me the should ship the unit with a 90 degree plug to make it look better. I took it apart and drilled a hole through the back of the case and soldered the power wires to the back of the circuit board, I left the power plug socket just to keep dust from getting in the case. While typing this up I realize I should have took pictures along the way.... I was able to run the wire behind the silver trim and up behind the glove box. Specs on the Monitor claim it uses 25 milliwatts of power so I found a hot wire in the radio system from the top dash tray and used some red crimp taps to make a good connection.

Happy with the way it looks and performs will make hooking up the trailers much easier.

To each s' own but your truck is way to nice to install a cheesy camera like this but that's just my opinion, but since your listening to Nascar radio you get a past, lol

How is the clarity and accuracy of the camera? Can you use it to align the tow ball right under the hitch?

I want a back up camera too, but that does look a little cheesy. I'm contemplating getting a Edge CTS, with the dash pod since it looks pretty close to factory and adding the back up camera to it. If you like your setup then great, thats all that matters. If you dont you could probably get just a dash pod to put your screen in.

With the remote transmitter mounted closer to the cab as I have the picture is very clear.

I didn't know that Edge made a camera, does that pod mount on the top of the dash? wouldn't be a fan of that. I like that pillar mount for the dodge but don't see it for a ford, nice thing about my mount is no holes in the dash if I find something better I can move it.

If I could find a pillar mount I would move it. But not a fan of mounting anything on top of the dash draws too much heat and invites theft.

It might look cheesy, but it fits my needs and to me looks better than suction cupped to the windshield or on top of the dash.

Thanks for the idea about the dash pods, I am going to google that and see if I can find a pillar mount.

The dash mounts don't put holes in the dash, they usually just snap in place I have had my Gryphon on it for a while now and it doesn't get hot. The pillar mounts are just as noticeable as the dash mounts...But if you like it than thats all that matters

In no way shape form or fashion was I trying to play or disrespect you. I was just stating that you have a nice truck and with so many other camera options available that this would have been the last one I picked. I see you have 56 post and majority of the guys here have seen or been through what your trying to accomplish. If your not going to go with an in dash setup at least take a look at Boyo or something else that compliments your truck. If I hurt your feelings I apologize b/c that's not my style.
