2011 FX4 Eco

I recently purchased a silver 2011 FX4 crew F-150. Ive got some big plans, and hope to get some help from everyone in here.

Suspension: First plan is 4" rough country suspension lift. I have been searching for some pic, but can't find many would really like to see stock vs 4". What's everyone's opinion on this lift 6" would be too much.

Tires and rims: I've wanting to go with 18" rims can't decide on black or machine. Looking har at the rockstar XD 775 rock star. Tires 35 or 325 x 12.50 x 18. Want minimum trimming of preferably none at all. I honestly don't know what offset means I'm adding some 1.5" bushwhacker fender flares and would like tires to come to edge of outside flares or little outside.

Step up bars: planning on adding some black fab four step up bars. Hoping to keep everything dark.

Reinforced bumper: I was hoping to add a iron bull defender 4 bumper. I love the Ecoboost motor, however Im doubting I'll be able to use these bumpers cause of the air flow. Anyone know if it's possible or been done?

Please feel free to give any suggestions or comments.

i doubt you can run a iron bull or any replacement with the eco with out making the motor over heat.

i'd go with a 6" over a 4". same price and you will be happier with a 6".

wheel offset and backspacing refers to how far in or out the wheel will stick on the truck. go read the sticky thread in the suspension section.

I also think you will be happier with the 6" lift! I was going to do the 4" and the dealer talked me into installing the procomp 6" with 20" XD wheels. Very happy with setup!

The height difference between a 4" lift and a 6" lift is negligible at best. Go for the 6" if your even considering it, and I bet the bumper you want could be modified with a front 'grille/mesh' type cutout to compensate for the intercooler needing air.

hes right, I've spoken to someone at peacemaker or ranch hand about their aftermarket bumpers and they said they have a hole cut in them specifically for us eco guys..almost positive its peacemaker.

edit: Im also looking at the iron bull bumpers.. it may seem like if you got a bumper with a winch mount and didnt put the winch in then there would be no block in airflow due to the insert cut for the winch... maybe its a possibility?

Thanks for the replies. I'll post up some pics within the next few day hopefully. The main reason I've been set on the 4" is because I'm simply wanting a better stance on the truck, and worried a 6" might be a little too high.

Sorry didn't mean to submit. I havent actually seen a 4" or a 6" on any of the new trucks in real life. I did speak with fab fours and they said there bumpers will work with the Ecoboost engine even with a winch installed.

6" isn't tall at all. after a few days your truck will feel small again.

did you specifically ask if they have checked after installing if it over heated? they could have mis understood and thought you just asked if it'd bolt up. if people had issues with bull bars i don't see how they wouldn't have issues with these huge replacements with no opening at all (assuming you had a winch installed)

Yes they ran it for 2+ weeks in 90-100 degree temp. Hauling a 3000lb trailer and with a warn 1200 winch...they said there were no problems with overheating, but they also said no drop in mileage as well lol...

FX4 Tough Country 6" lift

I put a 6" rough country lift on my 2009 FX4. I would not do anything less for sure and the stance looks great. So far I have installed a volant cold air intake, MBRP cat back exhaust and bully dog GT programer. I just bought the material to build my bumper that I plan to shadow the fab four design at a fraction of the cost. I attached a couple of links to pictures of my FX4 before and after the lift for you to see. I have actually thought of adding a 2" leveling kit in addition to my lift to raise the front a little more so the tires won't rub. I'm running 35-12.50's with a 9.5" offset wheel. With my bumper I'm building I think I will alleviate the rub but I still want to extra lift to carry the extra weight.http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2467492_n.jpghttp://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1628632_n.jpg
