If I remember correctly, you can program your own keys as long as you have 2 working keys. If you do not have 2 keys then the dealer has to program it.

Right, you need two admin keys to program another admin key.

x2

Every car/truck comes with 2 keys and these fords it is a huge cost to you to get a second one made. They should track down the key or eat the cost on getting you 2 working keys and fobs

Dealers are not always as bad as they seem.

dealers are notorious for losing keys. lol. unfortunately it happens all the time. you have on average 40 salesmen that have access to the keys so they can be easily taken home or misplaced. they shouldn't give you any problem on getting you another. and yes they will need the truck to program the key. congrats on your new truck

For the record, if the dealer was as "customer first" orientated as they want you to believe, they could send their tech out to you, with the key pre cut, and program it in your driveway. The "computer" is a hand held device, and most likely the tech will walk out into the parking lot to program your new key. They will have the key code at the dealer, and can cut a replacement without the current key.

If nothing else, I would have them make you 2 keys at their cost for your trouble.
